you cant have it before me, missy published.
vella_ms said:yeah, i have a cockeyed optimism every single day for things i need to do about the house and things i think should be done...it is a bit disappointing that i cant live up to my own expectations. i never learned how to lower those...im afraid of the catatonia i would crash into if i did.
so its a rush to the finish line
a mad dash to the end
hold on
just one more...
just one more
until you can breathe
until pride is allowed
cynicism paints the horizon
shades of disappointment
internal struggles
jubilant content
wars
oppressed melancholy
bets taken
odds wagered
breathless anticipation
as the race begins

impressive said:And, lemme tell you a little secret. *whispers* In order to become "missy published" you have to first become "missy submitted"![]()
carsonshepherd said:yes and sadly, most writers are not good at self-promotion. We need literary agents who take pro bono.![]()
impressive said:The only reason my poetry is published is because I had the sense to include it with my prose.

impressive said:Unfortunately, the self promo doesn't end once the contract is signed, either. *sigh*
Aurora Black said:I think I had to pay to have a poem of mine published in a book. It was at Poetry.com, and I was sent a letter that my poem had been chosen for the book and that it would be published later that year, blah blah blah. But I think the catch was (and I figured this out after the fact) that the book was only circulated to those who paid to get a copy, not like the normal distribution of a book that I mistakenly thought would happen. *sigh*![]()
impressive said:Yup.
There's a thread about the scam over in the Poetry forum somewheres, I think.
carsonshepherd said:and I think I can confidently say that this is the reason several of us here in the AH are not published authors. talent isn't always enough.

impressive said:I totally agree. It's a mite intimidating.
There's absolutely no doubt that the AH is rife with very publishable talent. I harbor no illusions that my work stands out in this crowd simply because I had the moxie to submit it to a publisher.

carsonshepherd said:nor am I taking away from your talent in any way, I'm glad for you, and need some of that "moxie" stuff myself (moxie sounds awfully gay though)![]()

I just don't understand, there are always choices other than to end it all.
Aren't there?

Alessia Brio said:I totally understand it. Peace. Eternal peace. An end to all suffering. When you know no joy to counter that suffering, it's very tempting.
Very.

sometimes i'll think of a word or someone will say it and i'll be like a deer in headlights.
i HAVE TO think of the word, say it out loud...roll it over my mental tongue and savor its flavor all day long.
today...its MOXIE. (thank you impster)
harsh yet seasoned flavor excites the senses and eludes common description.
im ganna be a word critic...fuck food.![]()
