Ode to Pluto

He flies through the air
with the greatest of ease
A daring, sweet pup
with springs in his knees

He leaps and he jumps
at all that he sees,
his nose picking up
every scent in the breeze

With his ball in his mouth
or his string as a tease
he chases and tugs
for as long as you please

And when he's through barking
at squirrels in the trees
and gobbling up bits
of your nachos and cheese

He seeks out your arms
for a hug and a squeeze
or curls at your feet
and catches some zzz's

Was there ever a pup
with such soft, floppy ears
and gentle brown eyes
among all his peers?

Not one so well-loved
and pampered with treats
nor blessed with a boy
so proud of his feats

So let's raise a glass
and drink a few beers!
for Pluto the dog
let's give three cheers!

How the fuck did I manage to bite my tongue..........in my sleep????

It hurts like hell.......and that means a lovely little bitch of an ulcer making its appearance over the next few days.

Just one more little thing........I think my body has turned into a battle ground......just one more fucking thing after another.

Anyone want to do a swap?? 56 years old, experienced, good runner, still in reasonable working order. Kinda. Just. *sigh*.

I'd offer, Mat, but methinks we'd both have problems with the switch. You'd be put into a 6'4" 26 year old body that's rapidly getting to strong for its own good again that can't run (bad knees) can barely swim (bad shoulders) and has more cracks and pops than a bowl of Rice Crispies.

You'd inherit one hell of a cold tolerance, though...it's been 35 to 45 degrees here at night and I'm LOVING it!

I wonder how long the bliss will last before reality returns.
Ah, who cares.
This is excellent.

P.S.
My girl says that I rock in the sack.
I love her!

When I said 'good running order', didn't actually mean 'running'. My days of half marathons (yes, I did!) are long gone, as are badminton, squash and aerobics. Like you, duff knees. Torn cartilage in one and torn ligament in the other, either or both of which can give way at the most inopportune moments. As well as a back and hips that are never happy.

6'4"? I can't even imagine what that's like, being a 5ft. hobbit. Can you breathe up there????

As for swimming, apart from living by the sea all my life, I never learned. Sad, innit.

But the cold intolerance I could definitely do with. It would be such a boon to my current situation. I start to fry when the temperature gets above 22C!! I would love to be able to cope with hot weather, its been the bain of my life for as long as I can remember. Ineffective thermostat - one that's been set ridiculously low, and is stuck. *sigh*.

*nibbles the Apple gently*

All of my best hopes and wishes for your loved one. I pray it isn't; there is much that can be done if it is. Love to you and yours -

It's been too long since I've been here (and it's been all of three days!)

*hugs* to each and every one of you.

*nuzzle*

Always good to see the Maiden of Malteasers.

Yes, the air is quite nice up here. By the way, I'd like to send out a warm appreciation to all you girls out there that are under 5'8" and wear low cut blouses....and for those of you who are in the habit of doing that and not wearing a bra; yes, if the light is right, I can see your belly button and the top of your head at the same time.

Again.......this is now three days running.......Started crying this time.
And they're so sweet about it.
That whole concept of being your own worst enemy? Yep, right here. Perfect example.

You are NOT your own worst enemy.
New girl, still learning. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Auntie's orders.

I am too my worst enemy, because everyone one else is being sweet about it. :p
Oh hush, woman. Everyone is being sweet because you deserve it. You're too hard on yourself.
