Yummy. :)

This wasn't exactly my lunch of choice, but I was hungry enough that it's very good going down.

My ideal lunch was a bit out of reach. :(

How's you?

~lucky

Mine too. *sigh*

Fine

I REALLY hate (x 1,000,000) Ann Coulter!

Sorry. Just saw Psychopath Barbie while scanning past FOX news. That creature makes my skin crawl.

I never realized how tightly wound llamas were.

Huh...

I'm better now. About forty-three minutes into the movie I'm watching ("Fierce Creatures"), they've got a shot of a couple of llamas. Very relaxing. In with the good air, out with the bad air. (Breathing).

:)

Sounds like a kindred moment.

Did you remember the incense?

No, I'm not incensed.

I'm much calmer now.

Twisty thing, ain't ya? So happy you've regained control. That kind of negativity probably kinks the fur something fierce!

*ba-dum-bum...ka-ching*

It's only fair for you to know that every time you dance, the scene from Monty Python's Quest For The Holy Grail pops into my head with the guys running to and fro with their coconuts for the proper klip-klop effect.

:D

Funny you should mention that. The opening credits from Holy Grail are where the whole "Llama" thing started in the first place. :D
Come to think of it, the movie I'm watching, which does have John Cleese in it, makes a reference to "just a flesh wound." Wow. I think I've managed to amaze and confuse myself with random coincidences. I need to go to sleep now.

What?!? What did I say?!? Recently.

Not you. It was an isolated blurt.

Btw, you seem very familiar towards me, what's that all about? I've hardly ever spoken to you before, have I?

I didn't mean to be. I'll stop now.

Awww! :rose:

I didn't mean that to sound unfriendly, I'm just in one of "those" moods. Put it down to me being a woman. ;)

Exactly Bel.
The modern Christmas celebration was tagged on to the back of the existing Pagan Midwinter celebrations, it was, as you say, the easiest way to get the people to move over to Christianity.

Which is why I am quite happy to decorate my house with holly and ivy, and spiced fruits, and have a log fire (yule), because I always celebrate Midwinter, and toast the coming spring. That's my special day, Dec 21/22 whichever day midwinter falls on. I share that evening with a very special friend, and we take joy in maintaining a tradition way older than Christmas. Christmas was for my children.

I can even tolerate the lights everywhere, by thinking of them as a symbol of the lighter days to come, once the longest night has passed.

I just won't get sucked into all the materialism and silliness weeks and weeks, sometimes months, in advance.

So I'll be on my own this Christmas for the first time. Do I mind? Hell, no !!!

Wasn't the celebration you refer to called "Saturnalia"? What is your definition of a "pagan" celebration? Holly and ivy and Yule logs weren't part of the original celebration but were added later.

December 25 is actually early winter. Mid-winter would be around Feb. 12. Maybe we should combine Lincoln's birthday and Christmas.

When I was a kid in Wisconsin, sometimes we would have a white Christmas with snow on the ground and sometimes we wouldn't. We always had plenty of snow by Feb. 12, though. Most people considered it to be a nuisance or a menace by then.
