Try cooking vegetarian for a change... you'll be surprised by the results. :)

Baked lemon chicken with homemade chunky wedges...easy peasy and all goes int he oven to where you don't have to work so hard, serve with fav veggies?

Thanks for the ideas, I haven;t had lemon chicken for ages, but Adi's reply inspired me to make my easy peasy curry :) Haven;t had a curry for ages and it looks like you've made a massive effort, and you can do the majority of the work before the guest arrives :)

Shush, don;t tell Grace though, she got all horrified when I told her what was in it ;)

Oh, it's not a vegetarian curry... ;)

Anyway, I need lots of protein to maintain my energy levels - I can;t get it all from eggs and I don't eat dairy...

Oh yeah, do, and not just for the gratuituous pleasure of us lit pervs, but for your own sake, and children's sake. Imaging the eyeball-popping from the grandkids (at an age appropriate level) being shown those pictures of gramma nakey and preggers.

Also, on the Day Of, have someone run out and buy all the major newspapers and magazines of the day. Spend like $100 plus, and get the things like TV Guide, fashion, cars, etc, plus the NYT, WSJ, the local papers and major regional dailies. Stick it all in a tupperware box, place in attic, and forget it for about 12 year or more. It will be a wonderful keepsake.

Same tips for all the preggers ladies.

My nephew can't count properly yet, but he has broken into spanish that he picked up from Dora. He was asking his mother to open something, but he asked in spanish and she had no idea what he was saying.

Protein is for building (and maintaining) muscle and other tissue. You only need a few ounces of it a day to live healthily. It can be converted to energy, but it's harder for the system to do that than to convert carbs, which are the easiest to digest. Fat (lipids) is the third (and final) category of nutrient (of the non-micro variety, such as vitamins and minerals); it's the hardest to digest but the most concentrated in calories (8-9 calories per gram vs. 4-5 for protein and carbs). Every food is a combination of either lipids, protein or carbs in various proportions - that's all there is. (OK there's fiber, but that's not a "nutrient" because your body does not uptake it.)

Sorry to go all professorial, but there's a lot of confusion on these things, and I think marketers exploit that.

I can only hope that my kids end up learning a second language...if they're anything like me it'll be impossible...

I'm such a bullshitter. :D

I just got a call from a telemarketer. They told me "I'd been pre-selected for a free dance lesson."

I told them, "I lost both legs to a mine in Vietnam. So I don't do a lot of dancing."
