omfg the heartburn will not stop, my chest is clenched in pain adn I am so tired of this whole acid reflux shit. I am so going to get my ass up and loose the weight to stop this from happening any more. I'm not that fucking big it shouldnt be this bad.

*slaps her whine down* I need to find all the extra pillows and haul my sorry ass to bed. Yet another night sleeping upright me thinks. :(
Acid reflux has nothing to do with weight, I can say that from experience. I have acid reflux disease myself, not fun to deal with at all. I take Pepcid Complete chewables, the berry flavor is much better than the mint as the mint is a little chalky. I take it on average once a day, diet seems to have nothing to do with it.
As far as sleeping get a couple of wooden blocks, put them under the headposts of your bed, elevate it at least 2-4 inches but if that doesn't help try 6. That way you don't have to sleep sitting upright, which can also be causing issues in its own right. *hugs*

I have bad acid reflux as well. The over the counter stuff did nothing for mine, so I had to be put on prescription drugs. Eventually, the reflux breaks through what I'm taking, so I've had to switch medicines twice so far. Right now I'm on a twice a day pill that luckily only costs $8 for a month's supply (heck of a lot cheaper than both the others I've taken and works better to boot.)

I just wish my tummy would settle, hopefully friday they'll be able to give me something for my sinuses and it will go away...

Good point on the bed Mrs. D.
I take a prescription for mine and it's under control.
There are other helpful tips online too.

I bet it would really suck to be a trebuchet operator in medeival times because people would always be coming up to you and asking..."Does it shoot any farther?" and you would get mighty sick of having to say..."No, I'm sorry. That's as far as it shoots."

If I truly, absolutely and most certainly gave a fuck about my job, I'd still be at work right now.

Actually with me the weight does aggravate it. If I stay under a certain weight I dont have hardly any problems. If I pop 5 pounds up it turns horrendous and I have to get it back off. They said because of where I gain weight and the rearranging the kid did of my body it puts to much extra pressure on the already over sensitive stomach. I've had it for quite a long time and it never fails that my gaining weight sets it off to hell and back. I guess thats another reason to get off my ass and exercise.

Either way I have prescription acid blockers that I take as well as over the counter meds for when that doesnt work. 2-4 inches raised on the bed also does not work for me. I will still wake up coughing with the acid in my mouth. I usually have to be upright at least 8 or more and its really better if I just go sleep upright on te couch. :( And I try very hard to never sleep on my stomach or on my right side. That is just asking for troubel for me. Mine is worse with stress so I know thats part of the problem lately with having been sick and other things going on.

And we think we know what helped to trigger it last night but I am reluctant to give it another try to see if it does it again right now. The chest pains got way to bad last night to be fooling around with it today. (The extra acid triggers spasms in my esophagus sphincter which causes the severe chest pain.) But I am almost certain its the chocolate digestive I had and specifically the chocolate. And this woman pmsing without her chocolate is not even a funny thought  Chocolate was one of the last bad treats that I get. (Another long story) If I have to cut it completely out as well that is so going to suck in such a major way. I dont drink soft drinks, i dont eat a lot of processed sugars...just blah blah blah.

Have heard many good things about apple cider vinegar. Try mixing it with honey and hot water - that's what the father-out-law does and he swears it makes a huge difference (acid to treat acid - who'd've thunk it)... that site i linked also claims it helps with weight loss, so that's two reasons to try it!

Good luck!

:D already do...only mine is the honey and the vinegar mixed in equal parts, take a teaspoon as needed and then drink hot glass of water slowly. Sometimes works sometimes doesnt. And i brought back a load of alkaselzer (sp?) gold (doesnt have any asprin in it)from the states for the emergencies when the acid blockers fail. I do the alternatives before i try anything else. I cant use peppermint teas which will sometimes work because it will set off my IBS in a major way.

even tea made with fresh mint leaves and a bit of honey, as opposed to commercial, dried teas? Bizarre... mint is meant to *settle* your stomach!

Blurt #1: Omg, the smilies are in a different order.

Blurt #2: I like this new order better.

Blurt #3: I hope I didn't make the wrong decision.
