best advice I can give you: tae kwon do lessons.

My oldest son went through a really hard time with some bullies. He's always been tall, but very slender, and he's such a passive person, I had to just beg him to stand up for himself.

After he'd gotten his first degree certified blackbelt (he was 12), there was this kid in school that kept picking on him. The kid hit him one day, and got suspended for only one day, and I used that day to give my son a good talking to. He knew how to defend himself, and while I would never want him to start anything, I certainly don't want him to just stand there and take it.

The day the bully came back to school, he picked up right where he left off, only Trey had been talked to by me, by his dad, and by his sensai.

He told the kid that he had a blackbelt, and to leave him alone (just like we'd told him to) - several times. Apparently, the dumbass didnt believe him, because he kept on and kept on, pushing and poking.

He finally took a swing at Trey again, and when he did, Trey let loose with one of those roundhouse kicks, and followed it up with some rabbit kicks. I didn't see it, but I wish I had - I only had the teacher's description of what happened to go on. My little bitty skinny son (he's over six feet now, but this was a long time ago) had knocked that kid backwards about 6 or 8 feet, and knocked one of his teeth out of his mouth.

The principal was pissed off at his dad and I for telling him to fight back, and it got loud in her office for a bit. Trey ended up suspended for three days, but I was so damn proud of him that day.

He's never had a problem since then. All it takes is once.

sigh...if only it was this easy...and please believe me, I don't say this in any insulting way for your suggestion.

It's just...it's just that when he defends himself...well he's the one that gets in trouble more. You see, H is ADHD and I know you know what that means so I won't insult your intelligence.....but he's also....how should I call it....well let me try to explain. When he gets angry and I mean really angry, blinding rage...well there's nothing that can stop him...he loses all ability and capacity to listen to anything...he just keeps punching and kicking and whatever until there's no more fight in him.

Furthermore, those kids bullying him...well, when they see that he's defending himself, they get together and mass-bully him :(.....and because they're all saying the same thing, that he's the one who started...who do you think the adults believe, huh :(

Trey has ADHD also. :) You know your son best, of course, but I found that the martial arts training/discipline really helped with his focus and concentration in other areas of his life. Might be helpful to discuss it with his doctor. Most ADHD kids do quite well at solitary sports. Just something to consider.

I've already considered it, sweet. Unfortunately, he's not only ADHD and his motor control skills are less than 'adequate'...shit I hate to say something like that. :(

ah, well. I feel for you. Watching your child go through that kind of thing is heart wrenching, and there's only so much you can do.

I did very well with Karate when I took it. :)

It taught me a lot besides fighting.

It does. :)

Discipline, focus, and in Trey, anyway, it really upped his self-confidence, and gave him a sense of pride.

Thanks....for the understanding. You're a good person, Cloudy :rose:

I'm SO proud of myself. I knew it would be worth all this. After 3 hours of adjusting glasses and furrowing eyebrows...finally! :cathappy:

Now I just have to take some Tylenol for a headache that is coming my way.

:eek: It's almost midnight.

~~~
LadyC, here's a :rose: and a *hug* to make you feel better.
I know what I want. I know what others want for me. I know they want what they think is best. I know I want to make others feel good. I know they think they know what is the best for me. I know that there can also be selfish reasons for what they think is best for me. I know that anything I do will be temporary for them. I know that they have to make themselves feel good. I know I have to do what is right for me. I know that I know myself best. I know that I trust myself with my own life.
Ultimately, my life is about me, not about them.
*deep breath*
Shower Massagers
OK, I've been thinking about mentioning this for awhile now, but I think I must have been living in the dark ages or something. If you are female and do not own a shower massage, run - don't walk - to your nearest discount department store, and get one today! No fancy models necesary, although an adjustable spray is really helpful. OH MY HEAVENS! It is an incredible addition or beginning to your toy collection and should be a MUST HAVE for every female. Honestly, I've heard from a reliable source that men find them quite enjoyable as well. But girls - it's like having cunninlingus by 100 tongues simultaneously - and YOU control the spot and the pressure! Add your favorite fantasy and you'll be screaming with ecstasy! My shower is purrrrfect with a seat in the corner - helpful because you WILL get weak in the knees if you just let go and enjoy PURE PLEASURE! You know, they should really market these things better - I had no idea! :catroar:
Why do birds wake up so early? :confused:
No, not the pigeons, I'm just asking about birds in general. You know? Wingged animals, feathers, flying...things...I don't know what I'm saying or was gonna say or...I'm going back to bed.
Have a nice day/night whatever, everyone. :rose:
Another day has almost come and gone
I can't imagine what else could go wrong
Sometimes I'd like to hide away somewhere and lock the door
A single battle lost but not the war
Cause tomorrow's another day
And I'm thirsty anyway
So bring on the rain
It's almost like the hard times circle round
A couple drops and they all start coming down
Yeah I might feel defeated and I might hang my head
I might be barely breathing but I'm not dead
Cause tomorrow's another day
And I'm thirsty anyway
So bring on the rain
No I'm not gonna let it get me down
I'm not gonna cry
And I'm not gonna lose any sleep tonight
Cause tomorrow's another day
And I'm thirsty anyway
So bring on the rain
Tomorrow's another day
And I'm thirsty anyway
So bring on the rain
hmmm...well I'm wondering the same thing and have been since 4am. And I must admit :eek: today I wanted to hunt them down and shoot them. I did the unthinkable and closed all the windows much to the husbands distaste. It was a little warm in the room. But that damn twittering :rolleyes:
The drive to work is going to suck, it's going to be about 85 degrees and for me that's just too damn hot...*sighs*
Ahem...it was me. They thought I was a worm and then an argument ensued about genus classsifications which led to a discussion of the relevance of latin bird chirping which when last I checked was still unresolved.
:eek: Sorry.
