Mum? When you want dinner, dinner is on the stove.

The stove however, is in the pool.

One of my all time favourite funny lines.

I miss my grandparents (paternal), i spoke to them on the phone a few days ago and like a record my grandmother asks when i am coming over.*sighs* she asks in such a jovial voice, but i know that in her eyes tears are forming and her leathery skinned face that i have always loved, is trying not to drop when i say 'soon...i promise.'

The day we rang was a good day because apparently earlier that day my nani (maternal gran) had visited them. She went over to India 12 days ago, for her nephew/neice's engagement. So they had seen her that day and were able to tell me that she was fine and missed us.

I am concerned though, about 7 days ago she rang early one morning (our time) to ask dad if there would be any issues her extending her stay by an extra week. Fine not an issue of course coz its not like she sees her siblings and other family often. Problem is she is taking that week to visit Kashmir. *grace is not a smiling bunny* its a war torn province and quite frankly i just wish she wasnt going there. Its a HIGHLY dangerous area, terrorists from all sides. The reason she is going is because she hasnt been since she was a child, dad said she was either born in the region or she has family there, he cant remember. I'll ask her when she comes back.

But yes, i just hope they remain vigilant and careful.

i miss my nani, and my dadi, and my dada :(

~~In other news, my sister got into the high school we all wanted her to go to. Great News.

e-Bay and I should have never met.
I've looked a few times, but I'm unimpressed. There are better ways to spend money.

Evening, Red.

I'm homesick tonight. I miss the fragrant smell of fynbos that is carried on the breeze after the afternoon rain. I miss the richness in the mix of languages and the lulling sound of what I grew up with. I miss seeing the sun set into the sea, making it glow like fire. I miss the diversity of the people - where there is complete differences, yet a strange sense of togetherness. I miss the vibrant colours and textures of traditional clothes and jewelry. I miss rooibos tea. I miss kalahari sand between my toes and the karoo as my destination. I miss the heat of the sun and the everpresent thirst that only water can quench. I miss music where the steady beating of the drum makes your feet move by instinct.

I need to go home soon. But when I'm there, this is home. And when I'm here, home is there.

I completely understand. My heart is in two places, too.

I know exactly how you feel. I miss my home and family in England, but when I'm there I don't feel at home anymore. At least not now after all the family drama.

And to complicate it even more, home is not only a location or being with your loved ones. It's a feeling. And it can't be substituted.

I want to go home.

I want to go home.

Me, too.

The AH is as close as I've ever come to having a real home. It's the one place I know I'll be accepted as me.

With a few notable exceptions.
