I did try to sleep, but my mind filled with items we need to purchase for the new house,questions like "How many rooms had light fittings and curtain poles?" and "Where will we fit the full length mirror" just wouldn't let me settle.

Does anyone else then have a tiny spark of envy when you turn someone else on to a really great book or series and you get to be around them while they're reading it? Even if it's something you can re-read, the other person is having a First Time, and you can't recapture that, so you're envious. Well, I am, anyway. Found that out by loaning Zelazny's Amber books to my ex.

No, I'm the one who has to go for long walks or go into work for the evening or play with the dogs for four hours because otherwise I will hover about trying to talk about the book with the poor soul reading it while he or she is reading it, as I am eagerly desirous of immediately celebrating it with someone else who understands how staggeringly wonderful it is.

Lord, I'm a nuisance.

One wonderful things about the SO - one of the really rewarding, delightful, and charming elements of our relationship - is that the SO now admires Oscar Wilde. Was not familiar with Wilde's ouvre when we met; now admires Oscar and dsicusses his works enthusiastically. The SO is a person of rare beauty and good taste.

yes, at last. It's a terribly long, involved story which casn be condensed down to a few simple sentances.


EL's family moved to a lovely little house.

El's family found out house was going to be deomolished by the council.

EL's family is promised rehousing by the council.

El's family have been waiting about 6 months on this rehousing.


EL's family finally got shown a decent property today and we'll be moving - within the next few weeks!

Oh yes, all those kind of things (next door have kidlets visit -think maybe grandkids though, as they're at least in their 50's if not older.)

And when will be able to get the keys, get in and actually live in our new house?

I didn't want to. Believe me, I REALLY didn't want to.
But things won't get done on their own.
Unfortunately.

As a sop to my conscience, I have completely and thoroughly cleaned the en-suite shower room, from wall to wall, ceiling to floor. I feel very smug and holy now. It sparkles almost blindingly.
