Islamic & Christian Fundamentalism--What's the difference?

No, I'm not happy. I am continually frustrated with this particular aspect of your personality. There was a WHOLE PARAGRAPH SPECIFICALLY RELEVANT to your rabid rantings, and you "missed it." MISSED IT??????

You do this all the time, and it's maddening. You don't pay the fuck attention. You just react.

Unfortunately, you're not alone. Lots of people do this, but it is a major factor of what is wrong with this country. It's how we vote, how we consume, and how we relate to others. It is a direct threat to our society, and few people give it the least bit of thought.

you should WEAR THAT SIGN :D

ok
Col, you got me, I did read that and I missed it
Im now gonna run into a BRICK wall 3 times

HAPPY?
That guy is NOW marked for DEATH!

The only reason you're not busted for making threats is that everybody knows you'll go to your grave without giving a single Muslim so much as a bloody nose.
Just like Sean lol.
Two peas in a pod. :D

It's interesting you say this, because I was going to make a post in this general direction on the "what causes gun violence" thread until I actually read the thread and saw that actual discussion wasn't the thread's intent.

But - yeah, I think we've slowly become a fragmented society, and big corporations have discovered it's in their best interest to play us against each other than by encouraging unity. When they get the plebs all infighting - men against women, cultures vs cultures, pro-issue vs anti-issue. Etc. - we're not paying attention to how the top 0.5% are shaping world governments to their exclusive financial benefit. Secondly, get people scared and you can sell them all sorts of stuff - guns, gadgets, legislation that takes money from them and gives it to the uber-rich.

I don't know what the solution is. Once people see you as "the other side", they stop listening to you. How do you bridge that gap? How can we all be brought back together again?

For one solid week, move every single political thread to the political board. Depriving the wingnuts of a larger GB audience is like sucking the oxygen out of them.

See what happens to the overall mood of the general board during this period. Ignore Eyer's whines.

Exactly.
And the paradox is: the more geographical barriers fall down (through immigration, the internet, the TransPacific Partnership and so on), the more fragmented we all become.

this is nonsense, Sen Sore

its YOU that divide us

by attacking HALF America with YOUR shit....its OUR fault 50 GAZE were killed, its YOU that call us TERRORISTS, its your FUTURE Pres ExCuntClinton who counts 48% of Americans as the enemy

ITS YOU and YOUR fellow SEN SORES:(

Im gonna post this here for the Col

Im gonna LINK it and Im gonna HOPE ole Sen SORE will not ban me again, Knot Again:rolleyes:

Its a must read

On why we have TO KILL ALL MUSLIMS, cause otherwise we ourselves are dead

The authorities will NOT PROTECT US

I'm going to post this for BB. It's a must read.

On why we have to KILL ALL RACISTS, HOMOPHOBES and ISLAMAPHOBES.

Because the authorities will NOT PROTECT minorities, gays, and Muslims.

***************

It really IS this simple, BB. It is not against the law to HATE someone and wish them dead or hope and pray they die a miserable death even for the most bizarre and irrational of reasons, be they religious or otherwise.

Therefore, the authorities may investigate, but WILL NOT arrest (much less kill) MUSLIMS for the mere expression of hate directed at YOU for the same reason they may investigate but will not arrest YOU for a similar expression of hate directed against MUSLIMS.

To say that all Muslims are not militant Jihadists but that all militant Jihadists are Muslim is no more significant to justify apprehension and detainment to prevent PROBABLE CRIMINAL ACTION than it is to say the following:

Not every spouse with a volatile temper will assault or kill their husband or wife, but everyone ultimately guilty of spousal abuse will invariably have a history of a volatile temper.

Not every person who has an argument or grievance with their employer will eventually commit a horrific crime of workplace violence, but every person who commits a crime of workplace violence invariably had a grievance with an employer or co-worker.

Not everyone who enters a bank is a criminal intent on committing an armed robbery. Most are merely customers. But anyone who robs a bank almost invariably walks inside.

Your inability to make a distinction of criminal guilt or innocence merely on the basis of someone's expressed emotions as well as your hypocrisy of failing to recognize your OWN qualification for imprisonment or execution by the very ENFORCEMENT STANDARD you propose is truly pathological. You are surely clinically mentally impaired.

You should find some measure of relief in the fact that religious fundamentalism and racism is ALWAYS an expression of IGNORANCE, but not all or even MOST IGNORANCE rises to the level of criminality. You should find comfort in that because it is the only thing keeping YOU out of jail.

I wish I knew what the answer is. It's one thing for this phenomenon to manifest itself among people of limited intelligence or education. But for my money, the worst offenders are the members of the United States Congress. And I find that really scary. People elected to solve common problems facing the country consciously shirk their responsibility for the most banal of motivations.

How globally, or nationally, can discussion be had, when people cannot even be civil and hear each other is such a room as this?

I had just said I would practise poker face posting, but....I don't feel like it right this second.

Ever been trapped in the same room with your hubby for more than 24 hours?
Like in the middle of a blizzard?
The smaller, the merrier.

longer.

We also hold different opinions over some things we consider important to us. That's part of what I enjoy about our relationship. Passionate discussion and seeing things through other positions, challenging my own position...sometimes changing it. Growing.
Make-up sex is hot, isn't it? ;)

Although I think you're completely wasting your time trying to prod sense into BusyBooby, I do like that you and others keep trying.

I wonder what things would be like if ever a day comes when folks stop trying to help others to see good sense.

The responsibility of upholding equal rights, freedoms, and justice for all - even for those that have different religious or political beliefs - is toughest of all during times like the mass shootings, terrorist bombings, and other horrible crimes committed against the innocent, but it is the maintenance of this responsibility that affords us the rights and freedoms we all enjoy, come to expect, and at times take for granted.

Yes, I feel jaded today. But ....is it worth stopping trying? We move the machine only a cog at a time instead of the whole damn thing.

The more one wishes for an ideal world, the more one sets oneself for anger and failure.
It happens to me a lot but I never learn to accept the good as well as the bad, unfortunately.

It's easier for me to point it out in others, than it is to correct it about myself.

It couldn't hurt. And I think making the effort makes us happier people individually. But it's a bit like recycling, right? You can sort your trash, reuse, do all that good stuff, yet big industry still poisons rivers and oceans and landfills keep on growing. You can't move the machine. You can only hope that at some point the machine will decide it's in its own best interest to be better. Maybe I'm jaded, I dunno.

Sometimes the first step is the hardest, but without it, you won't bring about change.

How to start a movement.
