Social liberals are gloating over what appears to be the final triumph of 60s/70s social liberal beliefs across the "western world" (Europe [except for Russia and Belarus]; North America; Australia/New Zealand, etc). At this point it does appear that politically they have now convinced (or brainwashed) a majority of the public in western countries to their beliefs.

However, if one looks at the world as a whole, a much more complicated picture emerges. In many parts of the world, just the opposite seems to be happening. Western social liberals, and even many of their supposed conservative opponents, have long held that "young people" in more conservative societies will become socially liberal because of exposure to "western" TV, movies, and recorded music. However, this doesn't appear to be happening in many parts of the world, and in fact, in many areas young people are driving movements actively opposing "western" liberal values. Obviously people think of the Islamic world, but there is little groundswell of support for the Gay Agenda, for example, in Africa, the Eurasian Union countries, or many other places. Arranged marriages are welcomed by many young people in India despite western abhorrence at the idea of parents being envolved in such things. In east Asia, young people still value education and work hard to learn math and other difficult subjects. There are other cultural factors at work besides western entertainment culture that influence the world.

One area of the less developed world which does seem to be turning socially liberal is Latin America. However, it could arguably be considered a "western" culture. Most of the Eastern Hemisphere outside of Europe does not seem to be embracing western cultural practices. In western countries, as well, the native populations are not reproducing enough to replace themselves, they are dying. In fact, the more a society adopts western post-60s social values, the quicker it begins to die out demographically. Someone will move in to replace those disappearing.

The battle for the west may be over for now, but the world culture war is not.

Actions have consequences, and people are self absorbed and selfish. Such realities tend to keep life from being total chaos all the time. Run around naked and something will sting your ass or burn you.

On paper yes. But if you dig a little deeper you'll always see that the same old self interest and hypocrisy will surface. Usually by academics and socialist politicians.

Orwell's 'Animal Farm' sums it up.
