Is violent crime becoming a predominently black career choice...

Since Tony Blair came to power the numbers of violent crime using guns has risen in the UK.

Last week two teenage girls were shot and killed as they were caught in the cross-fire between two rival black gangs. Young blacks filling their heads with 'gangsta-rap' music now look on guns as a fashion accessory as they become easier to obtain from Kosova (brought in by immigrants).

And the Government as if recognising this fact has just announced new measures to halt and maybe reverse this trend. One of those measures says that Jamaicans coming to the UK must now apply for visas. This is a bid to stop black gangsters from entering.

So is it black career choice?

Actually, if you look more closely you'll find that POVERTY is the most common denominator to violent crime. Not race, poverty.

If you look at violent crime over economic-class rather than racial structures, you'll notice a very clear line of who commits violent crime and who doesn't.

And before you point fingers at various industrial cultures around the world and the "black" violent crime rates, take a look at "black" poverty rates.

Crime and poverty are bastard conjoined twins. One spawns the other.

This isn't to say that poor people aren't responsible for what they do, but it is to say that there rests a very distinct and unarguable correlation between the two.

Solve poverty and you will solve the majority of violent crime.

That's okay, Medjay. They turned me away because I wasn't "black" enough.

Can you believe that?

Beaten.

How liberal of you muffie.

Violent crime is up in America (i previously posted some charts and stats-I don't care enough to repeat the specifics). Anyway Bush wants to give financial stimulus to the rich but none to the struggling people of America. Little help to the states and local govs as well. Violent crime will get markedly worse--GWB will put on the white hat and say how many people have been executed under his direction. He'll also say he tested kids harder. He won't lose votes, it'll rally his base.

Its a mindset......a cuture......its the thought, why work and make things better.....WHEN WE CAN STEAL IT!

Here is a perfect illustration:

In Williamsburg, NY......There is a community......Both dirt poor.....

One has crime, murder, robbery, graffiti, rape, large families with no structure......Black and Hispanic

The other no crime,no graffiti, law abiding, large families with intact structure.......All white

One group....Black/Hispanic......One group Hasidic Jews......

Blacks/Hispanics are prone to crime and violence.......and society FORGIVES them because of the excuse of poverty......therefore keeping them POOR......WHY WORK,WHEN I CAN STEAL?

It's a simple fact of human nature, Busybody. You can be angry all you like and climb up on your high horse and rant until you're blue in the face. Your opinion was simply not consulted. We are partially ruled by our biology and our human nature.

If someone has something or a lot of somethings and another group of people has nothing and can barely afford to feed themselves--irregardless of the circumstances that got them there--the have nots will get angry and violent, particularly at the haves.

Now, factor in the two hundred years of racial injustice, the madison avenue conditioning of instant gratification, the welfare culture Roosevelt created, the utter wastefulness of industrial society--particularly rich society--and the untrue mythos that poor people just don't work hard enough and you have a seething cauldron of rage.

You're sitting comfortably in your warm home with your computer to amuse you. No doubt you have enough to eat and where you live is reasonably a nice area--even if you live in a low rent area. You don't feel trapped or suffocated by your own poverty, the area you're forced to live in because you can't afford anything better, and the culture of poverty that says that you're worthless.

You don't know what that feels like so you can't see the anger with anything but snobbery.

Disdaining the problem does not solve it. Understanding the problem does not condone it or the behaviors that are associated with it. Understanding the problems allows workable solutions--providing you can take politicians out of the mix--to be put into action.

Just because I think that Poverty is one of the major factors that drives people to criminal activity doesn't mean that I think criminals are blameless. Everyone is inherently responsible for his or her own actions.

However, I still maintain, like almost all sociologists of any wit whatsoever, that if you eliminate poverty, you will eliminate the vast majority of violent crime. If you don't eliminate poverty, you will never effect any positive change on crime rates. They will continue to grow. The US's model of criminal justice is the perfect model of how not to handle crime. Crime rates in the US, particularly since Clinton's Three Strike law went into effect, have skyrocketed and show no signs of abating.

You're all right with me, Muffie, even though you are a Republican.

P p man, I don't know what the hell you're doing with this thread. I hope you're being tongue in cheek.

I like you, too, red, even if you are totally confusing socio-biological reality with marxist fantasy.

Your poetry rocks.

p_p_ is just starting another one of his riot inciting threads. Just this time not about Americans. After over a year of his recycled headlines, I've come to the conclusion that he doesn't believe half of what he posts, he just does it to see who takes the bait.

The man is a masterful fisherman.

Killer Muffin

My thoughts were not consulted? I didnt realize I had to ask for permission to post.

There is NO such word as IRREGARDLESS.

Your post IS BS......There are TWO ways of getting rid of POVERTY

Hard work....Blacks DONT work, because they can steal!

And

Income redistribution

Taking money from those that work to give to those that dont!

Fuck em.....work and live well.....if not, dont be angry at ME for having.....I DIDNT STEAL IT....I EARNED IT!!!!!!

If you steal it.....ROT IN JAIL!

Poverty and violent crime are less intertwined than many people think, although I have serious doubts that race plays a factor at all.

Crime steadily declined during Clinton's time in office. The only politicians that many people recognise are the President, their governor, and their mayor---maybe the strong economy coupled with a person in charge that the poor could trust (clinton) resulted in that steady decline. International leaders don't like Bush---they're citizens hate him. Minorities don't like Bush. International leaders and minorities loved Clinton--maybe GWB gives off a bad vibe. More likely his political favors are viewed as repugnant to those that receive nothing favorable from him.

You know, after having a white girl ask with a straight face if I would steal a car for her and take her to Nashville to get some cocaine, and watching another white guy hold his mother at knife point, and seeing that my anger management class has people a whole shitload of white guys in for hitting cops, I can't really say my race is on the side of the angels.

All That I Got Is You" Ghostface Killah
(feat. Mary J. Blige, Poppa Wu)

What dey gives you blood?
Three months man
Whatchu doin in here anyway? You oughta be home with your momma
How old are you boy?
Thirteen
Thirteen? Damn, the bastards must be runnin outta niggaz to arrest

[Intro: Ghostface]

Yeah, ohh yeah, this goes out
to all the families that went through the struggle
Yeah, from the heart
It was from the heart, everything was real

[Mary J.]
All that I got is you
And I'm so thankful I made it through

[Verse One:]

Yo, dwellin in the past, flashbacks when I was young
Whoever thought that I'd have a baby girl and three sons
I'm goin through this difficult stage I find it hard to believe
Why my old Earth had so many seeds
But she's an old woman, and due to me I respect that
I saw life for what it's really worth and took a step back
Family ain't family no more, we used to play ball
Eggs after school, eat grits cause we was poor
Grab the pliers for the channel, fix the hanger on the TV
Rockin each others pants to school wasn't easy
We survived winters, snotty nosed with no coats
We kept it real, but the older brother still had jokes
Sadly, daddy left me at the age of six
I didn't know nuttin but mommy neatly packed his shit
She cried, and grandma held the family down
I guess mommy wasn't strong enough, she just went down
Check it, fifteen of us in a three bedroom apartment
Roaches everywhere, cousins and aunts was there
Four in the bed, two at the foot, two at the head
I didn't like to sleep with Jon-Jon he peed the bed
Seven o'clock, pluckin roaches out the cereal box
Some shared the same spoon, watchin saturday cartoons
Sugar water was our thing, every meal was no thrill
In the summer, free lunch held us down like steel
And there was days I had to go to Tex house with a note
Stating "Gloria can I borrow some food I'm dead broke"
So embarrasin I couldn't stand to knock on they door
My friends might be laughin, I spent stamps in stores
Mommy where's the toilet paper, use the newspaper
Look Ms. Rose gave us a couch, she's the neighbor
Things was deep, my whole youth was sharper than cleats
Two brothers with muscular dystrophy, it killed me
But I remember this, mom's would lick her finger tips
To wipe the cold out my eye before school wit her spit
Case worker had her runnin back to face to face
I caught a case, housin tried to throw us out of our place
Sometimes I look up at the stars and analyze the sky
And ask myself was I meant to be here... why?
Yeah, yo

[Chorus: Mary J. Blige]

All that I got is you
And I'm so thankful I made it through
[repeat 4X]

Word up mommy, I love you
Word up
It was all you, word, you brought me in like this

[Verse Two: Mary J. Blige, Poppa Wu]

I sit and think about
All the times we did without, yeah
I always said I woudn't cry
When I saw tears in your eyes
I understand that daddy's not here now
But some way or somehow, I will always be around, yeah
All things that I did from this to them
Oh from drugs to being there
Being down and out and I love you always

Yeah, you say
You see the universe, which consists of the sun moon and star
And them planets, that exist in my space
Like man woman and child
You understand?
We got to keep it real, and what reality and reality will keep it real with us
I remember them good ol days
Because see, that's the child I was
What made me the man I am today
See cause if you forget where you come from, heheh
You're never gonna make it where you're goin, aheh
Because you lost the reality of yourself
So take one stroll through your mind
And see what you will find
And you'll see a whole universe all over again
and again and again and again and again
Heheheh, yeah heheheheh ahaheheheh

Hm, it dosent reply with the quote you quoted from KM.

I don't think that they are symbiotic..viloent crime and poverty.

And i thought some more after Sillyman's post and i think i may be have been quick to assume the correlation makes up for the majorty of violent crime.

I don't really know. I do think it is a symptom ( for lack of a better word curretnly) of poverty. I'm think i am losing the focus to this post. :
