is vaseline good for anal?

i've never used vaseline for anal. i know it's not good with condoms but that's not an issue. for just good ol' bare back anal, would there be any problems?

so would it be better to use, say astroglide? that's what i've used so far and it's been fine but i've heard other people say that they like something "thicker" so that it "stays in place" better. i guess it boils down to persoanl preference as do all things in life. a better question would be i guess, would it hurt (not as in pain) to try it at least once. also, what do you mean by cleaning up. not to sound gross but wouldn't it just come out with the next BM?

Vaseline is a petroleum based product and is not the healthiest lube to use anally. For me, Astroglide is too thin and absorbs too quickly. KY works fine for me, but some do not like it. There is a product called "Analese" that is supposed to be formulated specifically for anal use. Haven't tried it, so I can't recommend it or not.

Go with a silicone based lube. That has some staying power plus it won't hurt rubbers

You know, I remember when girl first time let me do her anal, I think we used nothing, I was already slick from being in front and we were both inexperienced, and it went off without a hitch.

Subsequent times we used bit of spit sometimes. Of course, all this was bareback, and before I really knew much, but there never was a problem anyway.

Since then, with various partners, I used ton of stuff, and I failed to find anything wrong with KY and Vaseline or any of number of veggie based cooking oils. Thats from my point of view, but it wasnt my ass on the line, however I'm pretty sure I would have been told if it wasnt good enough. As far as cleaning up vaseline, it gets absorbed or it will dry out and exit next time ... I wouldnt worry.

I've read that becuase Vaseline takes longer to break down it can allow infection-causing bacteria to build up.

I had one partner who liked to use straight Vitamin-E oil, but that's pricey. KY is making a product called "Silk-E" now that's a mix of liquid LY and Vitamin E oil that works REALLY well. The E helps keep it slick longer.

It just seems to take FOREVER to wash off any Vaseline. I'd still prefer Astroglide albeit probably a bit too much. I've never been too careful with too much lube when it comes to anal though. I guess clean up is also a determining factor for me too.
