I'd say Putin and Xi are each more powerful than Trump.
The problem isn't if he's sane, a bit crazy—which I think—more a sociopath—I guess, or quite crazy.
The problem are the voters, and to an extent the Democratic Party.
While all this voter recount, 25th amendment, impeachment, etc, might be worth exploring, it's probably not going to be, if you will, the trump card.
First there is history. As I mentioned before in this forum, in the past +80 years, only 3 incumbents have lost elections—and even two of those were sort of flukes—Gerry Ford only had it for about 2 years and Papa Bush's vote was arguably split by some outsider billionaire who yammered on about NAFTA.
I predict Trump will win in 2020 and Democrats winning a house in 8 days is not a forgone conclusion because sometimes a party has to get their ass kicked a few times before they get the message.
Hillary was a bad choice—she was corrupt, played kid ball with the Egyptian coup leader, and reportedly said nothing about the Armenian Genocide lest we offend our Turkish ally. She rid her hubby's coattails by tolerating his infidelities and what is considered today sexual harassment.
It's sad to see how CNN has gone. Back in the late 1980s, they were frikin' awesome, now Trump can barely do anything without them shrilling about it.
This is not to endorse the other side, for they are even more full of shit, but FFS it's time for the Democrats to figure out what they are about. If it's about winning at all cost, then run with a Clintonista. If it's political correctness, particularly if they can't defend it against a few Republican intellectuals—and there are still a few—then I suppose Pence will win in 2024.
(check my post here: Why do they call them "survivors" of sexual assault when almost all live through it? for an example of shrillness.)
Of course, one can wait for Trump to bugger up the country enough that even a Pelosi would look good, but currently it ain't happening. Some of the the tax cuts might actually be beneficial, some of the old arguments for abortion have gone stale, and the gangstas and MS13 (or whatever TF they call themselves) aren't helping matters. Americans luv their guns. I'm increasingly thinking the NRA is less for gun rights and more a lobby for the gun industry. If my Chinese goddess gave every American a free M16 and 1000 rounds of ammo, the NRA might hate her for it.
People were fed up with Dubya in 2008, but they weren't with Reagan in 1988 when Papa Bush won. I'm sure a few Republicans still alive after they passed that two-term limit decades earlier might have been kicking themselves—which I believe was more for FDR and Truman—the Gipper probably would have won in 1992—maybe even 1996.
Actually, there were three incumbents who lost in the last 42 years. Ford (1976) Carter (1980) and Bush Sr. (1992). LBJ decided against running in 1968, although he was eligible. Likewise Truman in 1952. And Hoover ran for reelection 86 years ago and lost.
ETA: What Clinton did to Paula Jones was sexual harassment even then.
