Late afternoon, after the stress of house-hunting yesterday (a couple of possibles, and one very likely), I went for a walk with a friend. My camera goes everywhere with me, and I snap away all the time.

It was a beautiful, warm, if slightly breezy, sunny day. We went down lanes, along windey, picturesque narrow roads, over fords and streams, up peaceful quiet walkways, flanked by trees and fields, the dog rushing hither and thither, chasing poor unsuspecting rabbits, identifying the wild flowers, admiring the breathtaking view over the valley as we got higher and higher. All in all, a perfect end to the day.

During the walk, we passed many beautiful, I-want-that-one houses, and in particular, one that caught my eye. Not only for its sheer fairy-tale beauty, but its name.......Castle Cloud .

I did take a picture, and I would like to post it here for Cloudy to see, but I don't seem to be able to paste it in, the file is too big, despite reducing it considerably in photoshop.

Clues, anyone ????

m,

depends on which program you are using to know exact instructions for re-sizing your photo. Probably best to check the help function of the software for 'resizing'. Otherwise, let us know which program you use (Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Picture It!, or the software that came with your camera and/or scanner).

Lime,

I use Microsoft Photo Editor to download my pics, and Adobe photoshop to re-size them, such as for AVs. I managed to get it down from 5,000,000 bytes to 500,000 bites, but am worried that if I reduce it any more, it will be way too small to see clearly. But I'll give it a go.

Do what? Stretch the table? Yeah.

Originally, I shrunk it down so it would fit, without throwing the table out, but at that size the name wasn't easy to read. I figured a little stretching wouldn't hurt. :D

Oh. Right. I thought it was just going to be a link, and open up in a separate window.

Told you. cyber-luddite.

Thank you.

:D

Thank you, Mat and Lou. I want that house. The shape itself is calming and inviting. I could live well there, I know it.

dreaming, Perdita :)

It's gorgeous, I want it!!!

Castle Cloud on this side of the pond is currently an old farmhouse, built sometime in the 1880's, and expanded on several times. It's not nearly as picturesque, but it's home for the time being.

When we moved in, we had to almost completely redo the electrical wiring, and have since had to replace part of the foundation that had crumbled, and other assorted chores that come with an old house in a humid climate. *sigh*

The bonus, for me, is the old original barn out back...and yes, it's red. :)

'Castle in the sky'........seems appropriate somehow, with that name.

Glad you liked it. I stood looking at it for a little while, dreaming.
*sigh*
A place like that, probably around 1700 something, and in the position it was..........cost a fortune.
But a gal can dream.
And where I live, the place is littered with houses, just like this. All, of course, wayyyyyyy out of my price range. I just keep looking and drooling.

IIRC, in Photoshop, you need to use resample instead of resize to change the size of an image when it's exported as JPeG.

It's much easier to download www.irfanview.com and use it to resize Jpeg format files -- it's faster, easier, and uses less memory than Photoshop.

Is that a thatched roof? Not by any chance near Thetford is it?
