Is this too far in the future? When Chinese elderly cash out their 401k-equivalents

A lot of buzz has been going on about how Chinese investors will come to be depended upon to start buying stocks when America's elderly starts cashing in their 401(k)'s for retirement.

So what's going to happen when China's current generation of citizens retire and start cashing in theirs? India won't be too far behind with a wave of their own retirees. Who will buy their stocks?

Or is that too far off to be worried about?

Not to worry. I would imagine a Chinese 401K would be worth about thirty bucks a month.

The Chinese and the OPEC countries are already buying huge chunks of US shares.

Anyway, the US currency will probably be the chinese renmimbi by 2050 but wealth won't matter because we'll all have converted to Islam.

If it comes to that we'll be fighting with sticks and stones by 2050. :)

Assuming that Islamic doomsday scenario doesn't happen, I can imagine that when they sell off their shares to start their retirement, we're simply not going to have the investors on this side to keep things balanced.

The tactic of deferring existing problems to the future, is in question at that point - to put things lightly.

Myself, I think the US is going to follow the Yugoslavian route. It's going to break up into a number of smaller countries. And the changeover isn't going to be pleasant.
