I am wondering if its possible to take a video which has been downloaded from a website and burn it to a disc that is readable by a DVD player?

My dvd player talks about the ability to play mp3's but I suspect they are referring to audio only.

Any ideas anyone?

Well I know you can burn from a video camera onto a DVD and use that in a DVD player.

What you're talking about is a VCD -- VideoCD -- which is simply a data CD with Video files.

I'm not sure if there is anything special about a VCD's format or the type of video files you can use, but I've used both MPeg and AVI format files and the DVD in my computer can rad them just fine via PowerDVD. The only VCD disk I've tried in a DVD Player had only MPeG format videos on it, but it worked just fine.

Most (if not all) DVD players will play VCDs, which are the most common way of getting video files out of your computer.

If your computer has a DVD burner, with the right software you can make a DVD, but you need the burner and the software.

Hi, WH!

What all does Power DVD do? I found out I had the CD of it yesterday.

I have DVD X Copy Gold and DVD X Copy Express along with some other software mainly for burning VCD's including on that came with my video camera.

Would I benefit from installing it?

I have both a DVD recorder and a player.

PowerDVD is the DVDPlayer software that came with my DVD drive. It's the best of about three DVD Player programs I've tried and the latest version will play most video files as well as playing DVDs.

Thanks WH, and you too OSG.

I must have acquired it with my DVD recorder.

I will give it a go.

you can usually pick up Power DVD on ebay for about $10-12.
