I understand the rule about no sexual acts of anyone under 18, but I was wondering if the mention of a prior sexual act (before the age of 18) is allowed? Let me clarify that I'm talking about character development, and not details about that sexual act itself. For example...
Sharon was just 16 when she lost her virginity. She had been at a party and was just trying to fit in. Someone had given her some wine coolers and she was just happy Billy was paying attention to her. That was the night everything in her life had changed.
Ok, so that example kinda sucks, but you get the picture. Developing a character's current emotional/physical state based on past experiences.

Does any of that make sense? The reason I ask, the story I'm working on needs a little more character development and I was wondering if something along these lines was ok?

Thanks!

PM Laurel, she'll tell you. But unless it's absolutely vital to the plot, I think you should leave it out to be on the safe side.

Honestly, I'd say, if you think it necessary, leave it in. Worst case scenario, they reject it, and you edit and resubmit.

Prior sexual experience is NOT forbidden. Graphic, description of that prior sexual experience is.

You 18 year old need not be a virgin, but you can not even have her reminiscing about loseing her virginity or any other act in detail prior to her turning 18.

Your example should pass muster easily, as long as following paras don't give any vivid details of her experience.
