Please say it ain't so... On ESPN Hi-Def, they are showing the US Rock Paper Scissor's championship. And the prize is $50K.

They interviewed one chick who is competing who said she had been training, doing pushups and bicep curls... What is the world coming to.

Hell, I'd play Rock Paper Scissors for $50K :p Where do I sign up?

There was a national site someone linked to once. It was fascinating reading.

If you think that's good, I've seen the world "Magic: The Gathering" championships, and the World Pokemon Trading Card Game Championships both shown on ESPN. And lets not forget how highly publicized the National Spelling Bee is.

I'm just waiting for the Yu-Gi-Oh World Championships. :p

If they were just playing rock, paper, scissors it would definitely not be a sport. For $50K, it's a sport!

He already went down. That was soooo last week.
See what not having Cable gets you?

Oh well, at least I was right.

A few years ago my husband and I happened upon the final round of the miniature golf tournament on one of the ESPNs. Whispering announcers, velvet ropes to hold back the spectators, caddies, etc. Oh, and the twirling windmills and clown faces with the big open mouths. ;)

I actually saw that years and years ago. It was nuts.

It was one of the few times where we actually called people to tell them to watch something on television. :)

Kobayashi is going down this year.

He did get beat. Had some jaw problem then barfed and lost points or however they measure deductions. I think he still came within three or four or five hot dogs from the winner. :)

Bah! Everybody know that REAL putt-putt tournaments are played on the old school, boring, no gimmick type courses. :p :)

Is poker a sport? (Your turn.)

They have or had ribbon Gymnastics and do have synchronized swimming in the Olympics? What more can I say? :D

I watched the last 45 min. of it. LOL... It was hilarious, but for 50K... I'd give it a whirl. :p

No. And I have a tournament in a week :D

All of this stuff belongs on ESPN 8, the Ocho.

Sweet! I would so watch the Ocho. I would also subscribe to OSQ. Obscure Sports Quarterly.

If ESPN were smart they would have started the Ocho in conjunction with the release of Dodgeball, and they would have bith of us watching along with half the world :D

Excellent. And for the rest of you, I'm so disappointed. This is Literotica - you're obligated to make poker/poke her jokes. People, please! :p

As I recall, the Rock-Paper-Scissors "Championship" is mostly a joke, and the players are all top World Series of Poker competitors. It's sort of like VH1 "Celebreality" shows.

My personal ESPN favorite has always been the Lumberjack Games.

(Does 'Paper Rock Scisors' really need to be broadcast in Hi-Def?)

I love the Lumberjack Games. Come on, it's just nuts to cut through a 19 inch log, three times in about 6 seconds. Or chop through it in like 20 seconds. Nuts!

Actually, it wasn't in Hi-Def. Sometimes they show non-hi-def shows on ESPN hi-def. It seems like the world series of poker is always on.

Now Lumberjacking I consider a real sport. That really does take real stregth and skill. I respect those people as true athletes.

I also love the strongman competitions, but for different reasons. That's not really a sport so much as a freak show.
