Is this a reasonable ask when publishing?

Basically, I have 9 chapters for a story. I want them all approved first, and then a planned release with one chapter a week on a Saturday. The reason for it is because I don’t want any delays in case a submission gets sent back/flagged for some reason.

What I’ll write down under admin notes.

Hi! I’ve submitted a 9-chapter story (this is X/9). I’d like to request that all 9 chapters be reviewed and approved first before any are published. Once they’re all approved, I’d like them scheduled for release at one chapter per week on Saturdays.

If any chapter isn’t approved for some reason, I want to ask that none of them get published til I can make the necessary fixes when it is sent back. Please keep them all on pending until everything is ready. Thank you so much for your hard work!

It doesn't hurt to try. That may be longer than you're allowed in the admin note.

I know that she has done similar scheduling in the past (maybe in better times).

You can always pull everything back if anything bounces.

It's definitely a reasonable request. Whether or not it will be honored is another question, and one I don't think anyone here can answer with any authority.

I did put it in my drafts and it fits!

I also thought of just that. My worry with the approval of all chapters first before release is that if everything is sailing smoothly until chapter 6 and then it gets stuck, I can’t really pull back that has already been published.

I’m more concerned about the approval of all chapters before any release part to be honest.
My only experience of mass submission was my novel, which had six parts. I requested the default, which is one per day. What happened was that they got approved in two batches of three stories.

That really sucks, I’m sorry. Do you mean they released 3 chapters in one day? Did you not see the publishing dates when they got approved?

Put the note in every chapter submission, but don't expect a weekly Saturday release - even though all the site does is set a clock.

As an aside, you're expecting readers to take nine weeks to read the whole thing. It would want to be truly superb writing to ask readers to put up with a slow release schedule like that. I'd ask for a 24 or 48 hour gap, tops.

I made essentially the same request (one chapter per week) for "Pranked: Barbie". It got published one chapter per day anyway.

My goal is to actually link my own website in my profile for people who want to purchase the complete ebook version and read it all at once instead of having to wait for 9 weeks. So a slow release would work in my favor I hope.

This.

I would release one per day, even if they were all in the neighborhood of 20k words or more. Someone who wants to read your stuff WANTS to read your stuff, and they'll be happier getting it the next day rather than having to wait a whole week. During which they might forget all about you.

That would be construed by the site as a teaser release, which is not allowed, particularly since you've flagged your intention here.

I will be releasing all chapters tho. Why is that a teaser?

I have seen another writer link their smashwords where you can purchse the stories. They then released chapters slowly.

Did you see the publishing dates beforehands? I might just pull them back if that happens

Don't do that. You're going in trying to game the system. You may want to target Saturday publication, but, frankly, you have no control over that scheduling. You submit, you wait for approval, and a publication date is assigned, sometimes based on other traffic in that category. Plus, you have no track record here, and that has been shown to have some bearing on approval times.

Heed what @ElectricBlue said. Your intent may be to publish all chapters on Literotica, but if you put one chapter out then have the entire story available for pay somewhere else, that's a teaser.

Then I don’t understand how other authors are able to do this? Even linking amazon for a story that is not even published on literotica.

Do what you want. You seem to want to argue every point. We have no control over any of it, just offering some insight as to what to expect based on our experiences here. Management here is uncommunicative and historically doesn't do much - if any - "custom" handling of projects, which is what you are asking for as a noob. Submit your chaptered story as a batch and expect one-a-day release (after approval), or submit each chapter on your own schedule, subject to release whenever.

I have no direct experience with offsite linking. There are others who know better than I. Proceed at your peril.

Good luck.

I’m not arguing. I’m trying to understand why authors are able to do exactly what I’m trying to do, when I’m being told it’s against the rules. I’m not trying to one up the website and its rules.

No. It was published one per day over six days. But the first three chapters got approved like two days before the first part was published. The last three got approved the same day that part two was published.

That’s forbidden to do here.

You can link to another site. What you can’t do is post chapter one here and say - go to my site for the rest of the story. That’s a teaser and it’s not allowed.

The page you linked to says - I write elsewhere, please support me by buying my work there. That’s fine.

It didn’t say here is chapter one on Lit but if you want chapter two, you have to go to my site to read it. That’s banned.

This is not complicated and teaser is a common word / concept, not Literotica jargon.
