Is this a rash?

This may be a bit gross, but I would like to save myself a trip to the doctors if I can. In the past two days, I have noticed that the skin on my inner thighs closest to my vagina, has gotten really smooth and dark pink. I have never had this before, any ideas as to what it is? Any ideas on how to clear it up?

Does it itch? does it hurt? is it sore? it sounds like irritation of some sort.

I personally have skin problems that include occasional rashes on my inner thighs because that's where, frankly, i'm moist most of the time. A little cortaid for the itch, lamisil for the rash, and making sure I dry real well after showers helps me.

Someone could probably link you to a page with a description of sores and rashes or something, but I'm not that clever at the moment.

It doesn't itch, it's just sore when I touch it. I am moist most of the time on my inner thighs as well, so I will give your suggestions a try. Thanks so much.

Sore when you touch it? Sounds like a bruise. But dark pink..hmm. Yeah it could be a small bruise.

IME it's rarely ever worth it to avoid a trip to a doctor, but it's free where i am, so i'm probably looking at it with rose coloured glasses.

It sounds like a bruise, have you had really aggresive intercourse recently?

My husband has a similar type of rash (in the summer months) that seems to be caused from skin rubbing on skin. Don't know if that's exactly what you're describing or not.

Hmmm....i would suggest getting some cream for a diaper rash. That might help. I get the same thing, and that usually helps me.

That's exactly it! How do I help soothe it?

At the risk of causing offence, if your thighs rub together that much, maybe lose some weight? Or learn how to walk bow-legged.

if its what i'm thinking, we've always called it like chafing or gaulding (i guess thats the right spelling) basically the adult equivalent of diaper rash. when your wet from swimming, rain, or sweat and doing a lot of walking things kinda of rub together down there and it gets irritated. this used to happen when i was a teen and would walk all over town on hot summer days. assuming this is the same problem, i always took a good relaxing bath and put baby powder or lotion on it and took it easy the rest of the day. it was pretty well gone within 24-48 hours.

This sounds very similiar to something I got awhile back. It also appeared on my inner thighs right where the skin touches all the time. It started as small spots of smooth sort of pinkish-tan spots and the spots grew until it was one big patch. Didn't itch and would dry out and get almost scaly looking. (If you looked really close) If this sounds like what you have, you may want to see a doctor just to have it confirmed. Turned out it was something called tinea versicolor. It's basically a naturally occuring fungus in your skin that starts to grow out of control by being somewhat moist all the time. It's not contagious or anything but will spread if you don't do anything about it. You can treat it yourself by using an anti-fungal cream on it and/or washing it with a dandruff shampoo containing selenium sulfide (Selsun Blue or Head & Shoulders Intensive Treatment). Mine cleared up quickly after I found out how to get rid of it properly.

Thanks. I definitely will check and see if it is that fungus. It seems to have gotten better. I have been putting baby lotion on it and then I am currently sleeping with no underwear or pants on just to let it air out at night. Thanks for the advice.
