I don't have word, but a friend of mine does. He needs to write a report, but doesn't really understand how to work the margins and everything. English is his second language and Word's help confuses him. So, does an MLA template exist in Word and how do you get to it?

What's an MLA?

I have word98. When a new document is created, the user has many choices of default documents. One of these is called a "Contemporary Report". The document starts with a default setup and walks the user through ways of setting headings, how to use this doc, how to modify, how to delete graphics, how to create footnotes, how to change page breaks, how to create tables, etc.

But since I don't have any idea what an MLA doc is, I can't really answer your question.

And there is nothing labeled specifically MLA. It seems most of the included docs are generalized for the greater audience.

If you can put in another post what the standard for the MLA would be, I could check further.

MLA is a writting style. You see this alot in college!
What use it for is documention. I'm not sure if there it a template in word, because mine it all screwed up. But you can find books on it in your local bookstore. I'd look for The MLA Handbook. (I think it's about $14)

If Word Perfect has an MLA template, save it as a Word or RTF document, and have your friend "Save as" a template (*.DOT) file.

Then, in the tools Menu under Templates and add-ins, he can attatch that template to his report document to set the margins, font, style, etc.

He needs to save it in his templates directory, or some other place where he can find it easily.

Specs?

Does anyone have the specifications that make up an MLA doc? Margins, textsize, columns, lines of text, etc?

If you do, I can check in Word to see if any of the default documents contained there are an MLA. Or, at least, make one, if I have the specs.
