Is there a way to add a preface to a series?

Hi All,
New to LE. I've started publishing a series here. In the excitement of getting Chapter 1 out, I neglected to add the preface to the top. Chapter 1 is now published after several rounds of moderation. however, I now see it's missing the preface, which has a bunch of pretty important info, including an acknowledgment that the story is based on another LE story.

So, my solution was to produce a preface chapter. But, it has been rejected twice for being too short (which it is). Is there a way to communicate to moderation that this is a preface, not a real chapter? surely this problem has come up before. I did search the forum and couldn't find an answer.

many thanks!

You can add a synopsis or preface to the series page; it's the field called 'series introduction'. Be warned, it often takes at least a couple of weeks to get approved, as it gets lower priority than stories. It's also not entirely clear how many people actually look at the series overview pages.
Alternatively, you can follow the process of submitting an edit to the first chapter to add the preface, which will take a few weeks also.

Yeah, I think the series synopses are lost in the lousy indexing system.

There are two ways to handle a preface after the fact. First is as @Five_Inch_Heels suggested, bulk it up enough to meet the 750-word minimum. Second is to insert it into the first chapter as you intended and submit the whole thing as an edit. That will take 3-4 weeks to cycle through the approval process.

You'll need to submit an edit. See the FAQ.

I hope you've got the other author's permission to use their story.

You can either submit an edit, or extend it to 750 words, but then you'll have to stuff about creating a manual Series to put the preface in the right order.

Is it really essential to the story? It's a fair bit of messing about, and whatever you do, it will take several weeks. Edits are low priority, as is approving a new Series.
