Dairy products cause problems for me. Has anybody found a non-dairy ice-cream that tastes like ice-cream?

I use Mocha Mix (soy) on my cereal and I actually prefer it to milk as it is more like cream. I haven't tried rice milk since Mocha Mix seems just fine. I am looking for something that is creamy like ice-cream, but without the problems it causes for my digestive tract.Drama Queen said:I have never found one, although if you eat something like rice dream over and over, you will forget what Ice Cream tastes like.

Yep - I rewrote it about three times to make sure people wouldn't suggest yogurt or sherbert; not only are they dairy based but they aren't creamy like ice cream. And I con't like sorbet either - not like I like ice-cream anyway.ShamelessFlirt said:I so wanted to say sherbert, but you worded your query too well!
Killjoy!
I didn't know there was such a thing! I will have to look for it.ksmybuttons said:Tried the Mocha Mix Ice Cream?
I have tried various enzyme digestive aids and they don't work for me. I am not sure whether the problem is lactose or not, but something in all dairy products causes problems for me.lilminx said:Why don't you just buy Lactaid to help you digest the dairy?
I noticed on the one page about ice-cream alternatives that many claimed to be Casein free.debbiexxx said:An interesting link.

"The other element of milk that people are commonly allergic to is Casein. This is the major protein in dairy milk. It is the element that most are intolerant of. It
is important to know what causes your allergy because if butterfat is your problem, then you can use the new fat free milk and milk products. However, if you are allergic to Caisein, there are many other products that you need to avoid.
( many of these claim to be "non-dairy" )"
I really don't care for sorbet; it isn't creamy enough.red_rose said:You MUST try Hagen-Dazs Chocolate Sorbet! I picked some up the other day on a lark (I'm not lactose intolerant or anything, I just thought I'd try something new), and it was faboo! And it's not nearly as bad for you (nutritionally) as ice cream, either!
I was shocked when reading the ingredients to find that it doesn't contain any milk products. (I didn't really realize what sorbet was before. lol)
It's nummy.
