If there are 212,842,539 adults in the US, and approximately 71% of the 48,751 registered members of Literotica reside there, then according to my very questionable calculations about 16 of every 100,000 US adults have registered here. That means that about 48 people living within 20 miles of me have member names here! Do you ever wonder about stuff like that?

count me out, i live in europe...

but a few weeks ago i messsaged some random person on icq (i SWEAR it was random) and it turned it was a guy living like 3min away from me. that was creepy. :)

Halo :rose:

No

Haven't wondered about it for a microsecond but then the cnaes in the UK of coming across a lit member are miniscule

one of the women I met from Lit lives 3 minutes from my MIL's house. She came down to Baltimore to visit, walked into my house and met my hubby for the first time. Turns out they new each other. She was engaged at one time to his best man's brother.

small world, very small.

As I run a grocery store (actually 2) I often wondered if someone I've seen in the store is a member here. Of course there are those that I've come to be really close to that I've mentioned this site as one they might also enjoy. But even then, it's only been a couple of people that I know out of work as well. Now there are some people that come in that I KNOW would benefit from coming here, or just getting laid either way, they'd be better company to anyone!

*quietly lowering myself with a window-cleaning harness down Van's window in my black leather catsuit*
actually, I just live across the road from you :D

Halo :rose:

I've often wondered stuff like this. It might be sorta freaky to find out that someone you have been doing an SRP with is someone you know. Like what if it was your boss, or your child's school teacher, or even a deacon in your church, or a professor. Wouldn't that be freaky? I talked to someone when my computer was out once and they were from the town where I lived, I just happened to glance at the computer on the next row and I'll be damned if it wasn't her. I sat there and told her what she looked like and it freaked her out then I said look up and waved lol...

Based on their locations, I know at least 3 lit members live within 15 minutes of me. There are probably more.

I don't wonder about co-workers or someone living close to me, but I do cringe for a bit anytime there's someone new from TN. Until I'm assured it's not my sister, I don't say a lot.

TN you say??

Maybe we've run into each other before, and just not known it? :D

heh... hey morning... I saw you this morning at the Krispy-Creme... I just chose not to say anything. ;-)

212,842,539 ?

This is adults by calendar age, I take it? Mighty precise figure. Well, at any rate, that means about 1 in 600-700 depending on rounding error and stuff... slighty lower frequency in Utah and Alabama...

Everybody passes another lit member in rush hour every day.

More terrifying than that is that on average you probably cut off a lit member in traffic roughly once a month.

Given the size of most cemeteries....
No, no, that one's too morbid, nevermind.

standing in a checkout line

Actually, although it wasnt in a checkout line, I did run into one of my fellow lit members.
My best friend (whom I shall not name as she wishes to remain annonomous at this time) and I were out for coffee and the discussion of favorite porn sites came up.

Naturally lit is at the top of my list for many reasons so I mentioned it to her and was actually shocked when she said she was a regular and even more so when she turned out to be somebody that I have exchanged a few boiling hot messages with.

Damn girl-nobody told me you were such a sensual person. I am looking forward to getting to know this side of you as well

I DO!

Especially when I see a guy online...
:D it's the nosey in me...

I think it would be sort of neat. They could have all this juicy information about me, and know that even though I look just like a normal girl, I'm really a very sexually aware person.

That would give me a little thrill.

:)

The closest I have found anyone on Lit to be to me is 4 hours, 7 minutes away. (That's based on MapQuest's estimates, btw)

I know there's probably quite a few Lit members in Florida, or who pass through on occasion since this is a popular vacation spot.

I have often felt like I was part of some sort of secret society, and wished I had some secret signal to flash to see who I was in good company with at times... I would really get a kick out of meeting a fellow Literotican in real life by chance.

I know NHG said she worked in a grocery store, but she's in PA... needless to say I have not met her. lol

Yes!!! I think about things like this all the time! I love to watch people and imagine a detailed lifestory...

But more specific to your question, since joining lit, I now look at people at Walmart for eg. and think "yeah you horny bastard I bet you go to Lit".

hmmm. I guess that makes me a horny bitch.

I doubt I'll ever run into another Lit member, since I don't believe I've come across anyone else here that's from Texas. Nosiree.

In the next Lit book, there needs to be a window or bumper sticker included for those that wish to announce to the world how wonderful this place is.

I have wondered about my patients at times too. And I have thought of suggesting a visit here for some of the guys who hit on me. Now THAT would be an eye-opener, wouldn't it?

Valdimer and TN_Vixen,

I've lived in the Atlanta area for over 10 years. My family all still lives in TN, though. My cringing is hoping that the new member isn't one of them.

If either of you think you see me there, please introduce yourselves.

Every time I see a redheaded guy with tats I look twice to see if it's KiwiWolf, lol. We live about 30 mins drive from each other. He knows what I look like, so I hope he would come say hi to me. :)

If any other Lit members think they ever saw me, I would not mind then saying hello. But don't go saying, "Hey don't I know you from that porn writing site." lol

Careful rexfelis

I'm from florida got an email from a guy who saw my profile on lit and met him for lunch. We go to the same school and he lives oh maybe 10 minutes from me in traffic by car.

Said hello to a guy in lit chat from florida turns out he lives less than 2 blocks from me!! LOL you never know:eek:

i wonder about a person who just happens to live near me. just a few doors down in fact.
when i first saw a pic of WH and some of his travel pics, i saw this person from down the street walking his dog to the park across the road with the same kind of hat. and then i wondered....but, naw........if it was/is i will respect his privacy. and i would expect the same from him in return.

"It's a small world after all......"

I think it would be funny to run into someone who belonged
on Lit in the checkout line, or any other place!

I met Jaded1 back in early September last year, and at the
time I had been a member of Lit since July......once I got to
know him better, I "recruited" him to get on Lit......and
now the rest is history and he enjoys his legion of fans here :)

LovetoGiveRoses used to live around where I live in CT....small
world.....

The New England thread on the Personals is funny......there's
a new guy on there from the town that I work in.....that would
be funny if I ever ran into him and didn't even know it! :D

I wonder about that sort of thing all the time.. I work with hospitals and i have constant streams of paperwork regarding patients on my desk.. and i have often looked at the names and wondered if any of them were from Lit.
I have accidently met up with people here on AIM, Yahoo etc and only after getting to know them did we both find out we were both from here.
