It's really not that hard to figure out what will pass and what won't here, but people make it hard because they twist themselves in knots trying to figure out why their way around the underage rule won't fly.

You have to ask yourself this: what is the primary appeal of your erotic story? If you write a story about shapeshifting old people or aliens who take the form of young boys, then what do you think the appeal of the story is? Isn't it completely obvious? That answers the question. It's not remotely ambiguous.

The analogy to aliens who take quasi-animal form is not accurate. Bestiality bothers some people because it involves abuse of non-consenting animals. That issue is not raised by stories involving, for example, aliens with tentacles (I wrote one of those). That's not where the erotic appeal comes from. So it doesn't work as an analogy.

Having done the same as Simon and looked it up, explaining it specifically gives the game away. Japanese boy porn won't pass Go. Mind you, there are some here who write about small men and pretend it's not going down the same path - but in this case, Urban Dictionary gives the game away pretty quickly.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck.

If it feels like child porn, no amount of "he's actually a shapeshifting alien"/"the adults of his species all look like human children"/etc. is going to get it past moderation here.

I wish it were that simple. Our host operates a business a bunch of lunatics who are uncomfortable about the fact that they poop and get horney would like to shut down. (It's too bad there is no way to legislate by emotional age, being 12-13 at best they wouldn't be allowed to log on.) They want to eat the elephant one bite at a time.

IMHO the rule is not: "what do you think the appeal of the story is?" but rather: "what act (, position, view, or thought,) does the story contain that an uptight a-hole can make a reasonable argument (to other uptight a-holes) against. The intent being to remove EVERY story on this site not just the target de jour.

To me this is a place to write fantasy fiction. But to the couple in charge it is a business, their livelihood. Understandably, they don't want to argue with politically driven idiots. (Idiots always win because they bring you down to their level where they beat you with experience.) So a wide berth of potential problems is given.

If it were as simple as "what do you think the appeal of the story is?" and "persons on this site under 18 have no hormones, desire, or concept that sex exists," and "no person on this site over 18 has any desire for anyone under 18," it would be easier. But it isn't. I understand why, but I had roughly 30 stories published here taken down over the past few years.

One (or at least its third revision) came down when it was old enough to vote or get its own account here. A couple came down for having specific details, being set in real places with my characters purported to be real (but ignored due to their peripheral relationships) "witnesses to history." My favorite stories posted here twenty years ago were "slices of life," so that is what I wrote.

I started writing when our small children were taking their naps. I was "stuck" in the house, and many of my stories had characters using kids as foils, getting in the way, or setting ensuing events in motion. Two of my favorites that 'came down' were based in a parent having a conversation with a teacher and a principal. There was no "underage action" or hint of such, but these stories of adults having sex in locked offices or storerooms in a school were over time deemed to be unacceptable.

I have never written a beast story. But the argument ...

Is applicable against EVERY story here.

"Abuse" is often a charge that is trotted out. The argument that BDSM is abuse is the argument that some adults (usually women) do not at any age have agency. That they are perpetually children. Of course the logical extension is that all sex is noncon.

Tentacle monsters are something I don't personally get. But feeling like a Social Democrat in 1938 Germany, I think if we don't agree to get along we will all be in the same camp. The color of our triangles won't matter too much then. There are lots of people with mental ages of 7 running around (mostly campaigning for public office or organizing "citizens groups" against something).

C'mon, everything here is FICTION. I know because those stories I enjoyed beck when are gone*, or like mine they have been revised to say so. The rest of my 30 or so have been revised to say the two MCs met at "that place near Fisherman's Wharf," or in "Minnetario." The children who did such a good job as literary devices either aged up into young adulthood, or they morphed into pets, in-laws, and co-workers.

Some stories reproduced asexually. (Hmm, maybe a parthenogenesis story, where masturbation results in offspring ...) Splitting into two or more as they were rewritten. While I wish the originals were still up, there were no wasted ideas, everything and more is up.

*The sad thing is with changing benchmarks stories written by those who no longer can (or are able to) revise their words simply disappear.

When given lemons, make lemonade. There are always ways to tell a good story.
