Is Personal censorship Being Applied?

Hi Friends,
I've noticed something a little strange, and I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed also. It seems that when I send in some poems, (an example is "I'm a Mad Scientist," which deals with the "Non-Consent" subject,) they don't get disapproved, but they just go on, and on, and on, without being approved either. I'm wondering if this is a means of personal censorship being applied without having to give a legitimit reason for not approving it." The poem I just mentioned above most definitely falls in the "Non-Consent" classification, but I'll be "Horn-Swoggled" if I can find any reason for non approval in the text! Maybe someone can enlighten me? This is NOT the FIRST poem of mine that's been handled in this manner. Thanks for any and all responses to this complaint, grin. Yours truly, (in every way possible, snicker snicker,) Uncle Pervey, "DOME!"

That's odd. Usually, it's approved in 1-3 days or it isn't. So, you have poems that are pending for days, weeks?

These poems don't have audio or illustrations attached, do they?

Yes Lovely WickedEve!

Yes I have had a few handled like this. I've presently got one in the "Story" section that's been there for a few months now, but I can understand the reason for this. They have to decide whether prose in the style of "Rhyme Of the Ancient Mariner" legitimately belongs there, so I'm just waiting patiently for their decision, grin. But I've submitted poems dealing with mentally challenged people, and this doesn't fall into any "special" category, so I've even removed the poems after several weeks of no action, ( other than seeing the number count rise from the insiders reading it before approval.) Has anyone else ran into this problem? It gets curious'er and curious'er, don't it! Lets see what responses come in, and thanks for responding so quickly! Uncle Pervey, the one and only "DOME!"

I would recommend you delete the submission

and resubmit it. I've had a couple fall into a black hole, but when I resubmitted it worked. Even your Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner type story should not be held up so long. I've found they are not embarassed to reject a story even if their reasons are quite a stretch.

Careful with the non consent, if you look at the guidlines for Non consentual stories, they don't allow actual rape in the story, it must be either fantasy, a dream or something like that. If you have actualy rape in your non consent poem they might reject it for that reason.

But again, they would reject it, not sit on it.

Illustrated and Audio stories and poem are another story, they can take up to 2 weeks to appear. Most stories will show up within a week, poems within a few days.

I hear ya Jim!

I hear you friend, and I've tried this way, and like you, I've had some success, but not with my last few poems, grin. I haven't tried with the story yet because I can see their difficulty in fitting something in prose into the story section, but maybe I'll try your suggestion and re-submit it. Who knows, smile, it might do some good! Have a great holiday tonight, and a wonderful year ahead! Uncle Pervey, "DOME!"

I'm against any form of censorship, but that being said, some things are just too twisted to deal with. I can't speak for Laurel and Manu, and wouldn't even try to guess their reasons for doing/not doing something, but if I was in their position, I would shelve some things hoping they'd just go away.

While that is convient, it is not convient to hosting a site wherein your readers and submitters are often one and the same.

By "hoping the problem goes away on it's own" the problem does not get addressed, and I while I have made some rash responses in my some twenty years online, I can always claim that it is better to voice a response than not.

Yet, before any public opinion on a cause or "fault" is leveled, I'd rather eliminate the various (and many) technical glitches that might have befouled a submission first.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

This answer is a copout. Not my usual style. But the argument only goes round and round and never settles so I'm letting it drop.

Happy New Year, Everyone!
