Is Naked Sexy?

I don't want to rain on the Nude Day stories, but am I the only one who finds nakedness to be not particularly sexy?

Maybe it's from my misspent youth, where we used to sneak into burlesque houses (yes, there were still a few) and see, in addition to the dancers, a Nude or Naturist film. The women always carried beachballs or magazines down there, as did the men, who also always wore their wrist watches and black socks with sandals. The people all looked like your parents.

They'd show you nudists playing volleball and shuffleboard or standing around waving at each other, and it was all so bland and wholesome that it forever turned me off the idea of nudity.

Even now in my stories I prefer my characters to be partially dressed (or undressed). I just find it sexier. Give me a few scraps of clothing as a teaser any day.

You have hit upon a great subject here. Nudity is sexy only when the one viewing it has determined that it is sexy. To me it all depends on the circumstances. If a woman really wants to get me going all she has to do is cover herself slightly. The imagination is the strongest aphrodisiac known.

I would politely point out the difference between naked and nude. A woman is naked when she is without clothes. She might be nude if she poses to indicate that she did not just wake up naked from a sleepwalk, however, I prefer a bit of fetish gear to drive home the nude point!

In answering the question it's like the old adage, less is more. Early pinups were sexy because they were such a tease. The build up and anticipation is more of a turn on then the in your face approach. JMO.

This is just so subjective...I would have to say it totally depends on the other factors.

However, I must agree that the tease of just a little bit of clothing just barely hiding things does drive me nuts!

Actually, the guidelines for nude day,

Story must have a Nude Day theme: public nudity, exhibitionism, clothing (or the lack thereof), skinny-dipping, etc.

don't say that for the suration of your story the characters have to be nude, they just have to get their kit off, and characters getting their kit off and ending up naked together is sexy.

I think if you asked my husand he'd tell you naked was sexy, if I wander round the house naked for any amount of time, he gets very excited *grins*

I don't find nudity, in and of itself to be particularly sexy, no. The process of getting there can make the end result sexy.

I skipped on the nude day competiton for precisely this reason. I just can't imagine writing a sex scene where both participants start out naked. It seems to me to wipe out the better part of a wrtten sex scene, geting there.

Naked is to be without clothing in the prescence of yourself, as far as you are aware, and nude is in the prescence of others. Nudity is in fact, never naked, and is a form of dress, where the skin, the breasts, the phallus become a disguise.

Naked might be sexy in a voyeur story, since it implies the person naked is unaware of an observer, and without disguise or pretense, perhaps.

Note: I have always wanted to use my knowledge of this via John Berger, just never had a venue.

EDIT: Oh, and sexy, as R.Richard suggests, then depends on if you enjoy your characters clothed/disguised or not.
