Is Michael Vick on his way to becoming the Michael Jordan of football?

I haven't seen him play enough. I think it would take like a three-peat or something for me to go out on that limb, IMHO...

He certainly seems to have the kind of potential. When he's running full-speed, everyone else looks like they're in slow-mo.

If they ever make it to the Super Bowl and they need a late score, I'd expect him to return a kick off or a punt too.

Not to mention his fine collection of distilled and holy waters...

The man is a God.

As soon as he wins 5 or 6 Super Bowls, becomes the most recognizable face on the planet, and a handful of MVP trophies...then maybe.

Til then I settle for a very good football player.

You gotta see Vick play in person some time. He plays like nothing I have ever seen and he is a nice guy too.

i'm not sure. i think football might be too much of a team sport to have people who stand out like Jordan or a Gretzky. but i have to admit, he is pretty badass

Micheal will be a superstar only if he starts sliding and getting out of bounds. Last night he dicided to duck his head for another yard after he made the first down. Had to sit out for a play. He is not a man of steel. Might be fast as him though.

The most impressive stat for Vick is that he doesn't throw interceptions. Unheard of for a young quarterback how has only started 8 or 9 games. I hope he stays healthy.

this thread needs a *bump*

cause he's playing so fucking great right now.

I'm really glad I'm a Falcons fan otherwise, I might be getting tired of hearing and reading about Vick..But since I am, I think he has the makings of being one of the great ones.

I'm going to see him, and the rest of the Falcons in a couple of weeks when they play Detroit..I'm so looking forward to it.

He's also learning how to be a QB, too. Coach Reeves is great for young QBs - patient, level-headed, and very instructional. The more he learns abotu the position himself, the better he'll be. He won't run nearly as much and his runs will be in better circumstances, much like was the case for Elway, Young, Cunningham, and McNabb.

Vick has more arm strength and speed than any of these guys and he's smart. Really smart about learning the game. I'm impressed by his patience in getting things down.

I give him two years and by then no one on the planet will be able to touch him. The Falcons will also have put together an impressive receiving corps for him, too. That always helps.

I remember in one game during my sophmore year a truly spectacular pass Vick through. He has thrown a few similar to this before but I had never seen him throw one this long.

Vick is right handed but throws left. In this play he was scrambling backwards and to the left and then throws a pass across his body 60 some yards timing it perfectly so that he catches the reciver in stride. That was one of the most amazing passes I have every seen.

I don't think the NFL has a long enough season to generate that Michael Jordan/Tiger Woods kind of recognition.

Miles said "on the way to becoming", not there already.

It is way too early to tell. He's good, very good. But let's see some Superbowl rings on his fingers and his mug on a box of wheaties. Heck, let's see him take the Falcons to the Superbowl and we'll start talking.
