"No woman is adultery-proof according to psychologist and author Dr. Bonnie Eaker Weil. More than 50 percent of all married women, at some point, cheat on their mates, says Weil, so husbands should never be too cocky that their wife won't stray. "You have to be on the alert that at any moment you could lose your partner," she says."

Is this true? As a man that's been faithfully married for over 38 years I find this to be extremely disturbing.

Anyway...thoughts or comments?

of course it is

What does adultery-proof even mean? Are men adultery-proof?

I've been married for a long time and I've never cheated.

If you can't get through one measly lifetime without cheating then you're a pathetic sack of meat indeed.

Does being on Lit constitute cheating? What exactly IS cheating?
I don't know about others, but I was faithful during my marriage. Even though he didn't deserve it, I don't regret that I was true to myself and what I believe.

I've seen the same things in other studies over the years and add to that what I've seen personally from other couples, I'd say it is probably correct. Certainly there's no reason to think women don't cheat at least as much as men. Bitches. Cold hearted bitches.

Did you really just use the Bill Clinton defense?
"it all depends on what your definition of "is" is"
I remember watching it live on tv and swallowing a spoon when he said it.

Cheating is whatever the couple says it is. Being on Lit can be, looking at porn, texting, ass fucking. It's all the same to some people while others don't care if you ass fuck as long as you don't look at porn. Or something like that.

Denny

The real cheaters are the idiots who come up with these stupid polls and discussions. They have no idea what the average woman does.

It depends what you are doing on lit? For me, it is just friendly conversations. Nothing more, so no cheating. My husband also knows that I am here.

We all have free will and make our own choices.

Some people find that monogamy comes natural to them and others don't.

My thoughts are that I dont think people should be on alert ALL THE TIME that their partner might cheat. I've seen first hand a partner that was paranoid their partner was cheating and stalked and accused frequently till the relationship ended because of the paranoia.

Some people cheat. Some don't. Trust is important in a relationship.

I think a person can be driven to cheat by people like that who constantly accuse someone who hasn't done it. Eventually they figure they might as well. No trust always ends poorly.

A funny expression that makes me laugh:

"It just happened. I dodn't mean for it to happen."

What you were walking past someone and your dick happened to fall into the ladies vagina? Or you were talking to this guy and somehow happened to fall on dick? :D

At some point in history both of those things had to have happened and nobody would believe them.

Late night tv was great in Bill's day. The jokes wrote themselves.
I remember a political cartoon.
It showed a real goofy looking Bill.
An arrow was pointing at his head with the caption "the leader of the free world"
Another arrow was pointing at his dick. The caption was "the leader of the leader of the free world"

I actually heard it a few times:
"I tripped and fell and oops! my dick landed in her…."

Well, shit, how is it I manage to meet the 50% who don't cheat 100% of the time?

Cheating is a matter of inclination and opportunity.

It's easy to be faithful, if you never get an opportunity, but it's not really the same as being faithful.

I didn't cheat during the one relationship when I should've.
At least then I would have had sex, and some closeness, instead of the barren and empty relationship I endured.

Now, I am in a trully open relationship and have no need to cheat.
If I want a bit on the side, or a fling with another woman, I am free to do so (although he does want me to relive any trysts when he's with me).
:)
