Is it Safe to be Attractive in America?

If a man follows you several blocks the whole while you're walking faster and then waits outside a store for you, he's creepy and the only drink you're getting from him would be dosed.

Or maybe he just likes watching the way your ass cheeks peek out of your daisy dukes with no panties.

Only skimmed this but in summary:

Laurelle was nearly raped during a Brazilian therefore needs to eat more cake?

Nobody needs an excuse to eat more cake.

It's a fucking BRILLIANT idea though. Instead of carrying Mace if some sexual deviant (ie Spacekowboy) follows you down a dark alley, whip out a black forest gateaux, cram it down your neck fast and watch that bastard run.

I agree, but am giving her the benefit of the doubt because having someone follow you can be very unnerving.
Until you came along this was an upside-down universe where a men's rights activist was the only one who was trying to point this out to people.

Now shit's falling back down from the ceiling. Fuck.

Actually, pretty much everyone in the thread said that.

Not the hallucinating about things falling on them, the first part.

For the record: I am fat and still get harassed.

No one is safe.

If a woman is being followed and she feels threatened she has a few options I'd say.

First one would be (if you are in public setting) to confront the guy, yell loud at him to stop following you.

The second is to stop another person and tell them. If a woman told me they were out by some dude following them, I would confront that guy.

A few weeks ago there was a drunk guy outside a corner store i went in to. Inside there was this woman looking out the window at the drunk guy. I bought my shit and was ready to leave when the woman walked out and the guy followed her. She was yelling at him to stop following her, but he didn't. I watched for a few minutes as they went down the street. I pulled up beside her and asked if she was okay, she said she was. I offered to take her a few blocks away from the guy and she said no. So the only thing left to do was to tell the guy to fuck off. Literally, that's all it took. I said ' the lady said to fuck off, stop following her' .He turned around and went the other way so I drove off slow and made sure he didn't double back.

The last option would be to shoot him for acting suspicious.

How do you define harassment? Or better yet, please share an example of the last time you were harassed.

A few weeks ago I was walking around Target, which I do a lot clearly, and this guy comes popping out of one of the aisles. First he walked past me and stopped and turned around to yell, not tell but yell, at me that I "Look DAMN fine today" and I know my face got a little scrunched up but I nodded at him and said thanks and kept walking.

Turns out he hadn't left the store, he waited for me to check out and followed me back to my office building telling me at first that I was really looking good and then it proceeded to get uglier as I ignored him. He started telling me how nice my ass was and then proceeded to get ugly about it and calling me names. It ended with me entering my office building which has a ton of security and him shouting about what a fucking stuck-up fat bitch I was.

The first comment I was polite and said thanks. Would the nasty names have started sooner, in the store if I hadn't even acknowledged him? How far would he have taken his anger if I had more than a block to walk? What if he did the same thing to some young woman who doesn't know this city well? Who doesn't know how to defend herself?

The comments on my body, both good and bad happen on an almost regular basis and I mean it when I say I'm big (I'm also quite tall), I'm not a skinny little model chick. If I'm getting these comments then how do the other women fare? I can't help but think not well. These comments aren't welcome either good or bad. Period.
