Is it possible for blood pressure to be too low?

I hear about high blood pressure all the time, but never anything about low blood pressure.

I had mine taken yesterday at the drugstore when I picked up my birth control pills. It was 113/65. I know that's really low, and that was after driving 30 miles with my husband and kids in the car.

How low is too low?

Lower than 100, I'd guess

My BP is routinely like 105/60 and the doctors adore that. Even after hanging out in a car with the StudMuffin for an hour and then the VA hospital for two.

That's worse than cruising with kids.

I have low blood pressure and I've been turned away from giving blood for that reason. If I remember correctly, it was somewhere in the 85/65 range.

I need to have sex more or something. I'm in good shape, but at the high end of normal.
If it's too low you'll get dizzy standing up quickly, but I don't think it's too dangerous apart from that sort of thing.

Low blood pressure is categorized as anything under 90/60. The problems with low blood pressure is that in quite a few cases, not enough blood is flowing to vital organs. But if you've always been healthy, and always had low blood pressure, then consider yourself lucky that you don't have high blood pressure. :)

i dont think you have anything to worry about, my wife has had problems with low blood pressure, and they told us that there usually isn't anything to worry about unless it gets lower than 90 over 55 i think

yes, blood pressure can "bottom out". Sounds like yours may just be on the low side of normal.

I'm asthmatic and suffer from low b/p to boot..... top that off with a hyperactive metabolism, well..... you get my point........

I suffer the curse of ingesting a 5k calorie daily diet, yet cannot gain an ounce.......yet if I were to get sick and not eat for 24 hours, I'd lose 5 or more pounds.......

Low b/p is nothing to ignore........... add a hyper metabolism, and you've got me.......... $200.00 plus a week for homecooked meals. Don't even think about that $40.00 market priced lobster dinner, I'm always hungry again before we reach the door on the way out!

I eat 5-7 full meals a day............. I'd trade anything to be able to eat normally........ and no, I don't puke, I don't skip meals, I don't even offer my food to others...... I eat/eat/eat/ and eat..... and yes, I'm like everyone else........ I only go once a day.........

Yet with my condition, I know that I will die in my early 60's.... it is a fact proven time and time again......... I burried my mother in '96 at 61, and my father in '97 at 66........

Nuff said.

Enjoy what you have.......... tomorrow is but an illusiuon,....... I am 39 BTW

I have slightly low blood pressure. Means I get easily dizzy, can't sit up too fast and motion sick. Some days I can wake up, sit up and when I try to stand up my legs feel like spaghetti and I can't stand on them. I have to rest for a whole day. It sucks.
