Hello, everyone.

I'm working on a full-length romantic novel, which falls not in the "harlequin" romance genre, but in the erotica genre, mostly because of the graphic description of several sex scenes.

I'm interested in getting feedback, as I've finished drafts of the first several chapters of the story, but there are several sections which are nothing but exposition and character development, with no sex or alluded sex. Are people here even interested in reading such things?

The couplings described are as follows:

Situation 1: husband invites male friend to stay for the weekend.

-- Friend imagines husband and wife in intimate situations (voyeur/ intimate couplings?)
-- Friend masturbates while imagining himself and his friend's wife in intimate situations [willing partner] (intimate couplings/ masturbation)

Also, I had hoped to include an incest scene, father forcing himself on daughter. I have some questions about how the "rules" work at Literotica relating to rape/non-consent.

* Does the non-consenting person eventually _have_ to consent, i.e. "she stopped struggling and soon was begging for more..." for the mods to approve?

* Just what subjects are _too_ taboo/ _too_ hardcore? Rape? Bestiality? Slapping, strangulation, bondage? Is there a topic/are their topics which even literotica finds too taboo so, "don't even go there?" I don’t want to waste my time writing something that will never be read because of rules issues.

Thank you for reading my questions. I look forward to your answers.

two hard and fast rules.... 18 and over only..... leave the animals on the farm......

As for character development... read the first line of my sig....... :D

The answer to the questions in the title of this thread are:

1. Yes
2. It depends. Some readers like character development. Some don't.

As for the rest of your questions, the Editors Forum or Story Feedback Forum are probably more appropriate places to ask.

However if you include non-consent incest in a part of the story you are likely to irritate those who don't like incest; and to irritate those who do like incest by the rest of the story. It's a Lose/Lose scenario.

IMHO It would be better to leave the incest and non-consent out of a longer story and put the whole thing in Novels and Novellas. For incest and non-consent either the whole story should be on those themes, or NONE of it.

Yeah, you'll get burned by the romance crowd too if you have non-consent and incest.

Maybe try posting each chapter in appropriate categories to pick up different readers. eg:

ch.1 Voyeur / or masturbation
ch. 2 non-consent [don't under any circumstances put a non-consent incest story in incest :D]
ch.3 loving wives [if she cheats]
etc

Novellas just doesn't seem to get as much reads as you would in the other categories, but if you can't break it up, put warnings at the start in the novellas category.

As to non-consent, there are exceptions, but generally the person has to enjoy the sexual act eventually, if not the 'lover'.

Good luck. Sounds like a mamoth effort :rose:

Edited to add: I have several chapters [probably about 5 of 20] that have no intercourse, and there is little to no difference is votes, comments and ranking. Go for it.
