Is George Bush now telling the world that the
US may use nuclear weapons to fight terrorism?

The leaked details of the “Nuclear Posture Review”
just adds more intrigue to the story, does the leak
come from friend or foe of the Bush administration?

In addition to the horror and pollution, bringing
these weapons into play would practically call for a
response in kind. If you can rein devastating terror
with conventional weapons, who would benefit from
the use of nuclear weapons? How should the world
sculpt a rational use policy?

Military force is needed in this world, but with such
incredible powers of destruction, it seems critical to
assess the outcomes before any use. What scenarios
would warrant the use of even tactical nuclear weapons?

This may be a very important moment in history, what
should a good world citizen be doing about this situation?

NUKE ‘EM ALL
Talk about idiotic over-reaction. U.S. law requires that the President and the Defense Department establish contingency plans for the deployment and use of nuclear weapons. The theory, I guess, is that it’s certainly easier to develop plans for the use of nuclear weapons when time and emotions are on your side then to hurriedly develop those plans while rhetoric is hot or you’re under attack. So … in compliance with the law Bush instructs the Pentagon to develop those plans. Also in compliance with the law, the plans are shared with key legislators. Sure enough, they’re leaked to the Los Angeles Times. And don’t you just know they were leaked by a liberal Democrat – but that’s another story.

Anyway … to show you just how idiotic leftists can be, the British press was running headlines this week with the bold words “Nuke ‘em all” and a picture of a screaming, enraged George W. Bush.

Don’t you just love those leftists?

I believe what Bush and the administration are saying is: they are not going to discount the use of nuclear weapons when defending America from terrorists.

The media of course makes this out to mean: We are now going to use nuclear weapons to fight terrorists.

It's common double-speak for the media. Of course we are not going to drop a nuclear bomb on Afganistan. But it wouldn't be out of the question either.

Never say never.

The sky isn't falling.

If you have weapons, weapons of any kind you have scenarios and reviews concerning the cases where such weapons might be deployed and or used. This IS NOT an artifact of the Bush administration. All administrations have these plans in place.

Why does the guy with the red "football" follow the president around? So that the president can order a nuclear attack if neccessary. The guy has been following EVERY president since JFK. And trust me, much more knowledgable people than you or I HAVE assesed the potential outcomes for EVERY possible scenario. You pay them to do that. You don't get paid to do that. They have no obligation to tell you, and I like it that way. Keeps the 'bad guys' guessing.

Ewwwwwwwwwwwww, it's panic city because there's a Republican in the White House. Oh dear, hide the babies, build more fallout shelters.

Does anyone understand that EVERY major war was started by a Democrat. Or that militarily strong nations with response plans are generally NOT attacked by lesser powers?

*walks away shaking his head and mumbling, "What ever happened to History and reason?"*

I wouldn't characterize Hitler as a Democrat. Neither was he a Repblican, nor a Socialist.

What the fuck was he any ways? Besides a mad man.

Totalitarian?

Re-phrasing

Every major war but one was started with a Democrat in the White House.

Lincoln was a Republican.

Regardless, appeasement and reliance on treaties has invariably led to serious conflict.

*chuckling at the mental picture of Stalin running back and forth in front of the 6th Panzer, waving the non-aggresion treaty and yelling, "You can't do this, you promised. I'll sue."*

I have not heard about this, do we know who leaked the story?

It was leaked by a memeber of Congress, but we don't know which one.

I doubt, however, that a Republican would have reason to leak the report.
