Is it just me?

..but I find some posters continually harping on about there SO (hate that term too!) irksome.

You can be reading an interesting thread and suddenly up pops a post (usually with only a very tenous link to the subject) - then its all about thier love for the SO or how long it is until he/she sees SO.

What gives?

Does that love cease to exist unless it is posted on here everyday? And apart from the poster - who cares?

I appreciate that I am still a newbie and maybe if I reach 10.000 posts, I'll be really interested in ever iota of someone else's life - but I can't see it.

Am I just a grumpy old bastard? Is it just me?

I don't find it irksome at all!!:D

Having a SO is something that fits into many topics, and it works well for me!

No it's not just you. SO is not a great term and it doesn't really matter if the mention of SO is germane to the point.

Mentioning your SO in a non relevant way is a little annoying but so it is when people drift off topic anyway.

Agreed.

What irks me is people who try to tell you what to post and what not to post.

Okay you dont care to read about these relationships,so what? Now I am supposed to care about what you dont care to see?

But when has any post ever stuck to the topic on these boards?

Jass if you don't like to read them why do you?

I mean if the topic is a sexual position or relationships how do you keep your SO out of it?

Because they pop up everywhere not just in the realationship threads!

I could probably start I thread:

I love my classic car - its great for travelling on a sunny weekend with the top down.

and a few posts later someone will say

I love my classic car because the engine purrs just like my love when I kiss his earlobe; the brakes squeal just like I do when my lover enters me; the exhaust fumes just like I do when he is so far away; etc etc etc

It's not just you. People that have to continually remind you of their attachments are lacking self-confidence and would make for scary mates.

Here's a partial list of offenders:

Draco and Sweet Cherry

Jenny Mutual of Omaha:heart:

sexy-girl and Lisa (still haven't seen her)

Manu (don't you just wish he'd just shut the hell up about Laurel? Dude's a regular Chatter-fucking-box)

YAY!!

I made a list!!! Thanks Marxist! I couldn't be listed with a group of better people either!

I'm concerned that such a nice looking guy, like you Jass, feels this way. Hoping that there will soon be a SO (or lover, or wife, or whatever) in your life very soon.:rose:

Thank-you for the compliment :D

I do have a wife: a beautiful wife, an intelligent wife, a loving wife, a soul mate - but strange as it may seem I don't feel the need to broadcast that or my love for her on a porn board (that last bit was a joke :D, on a public board)

I think I do because BOTH Oman (aka MofO!) deal with Lit on the boards and in chat (therefore the advertising with signature lines and such). If my mate wasn't associated with Lit, I probably wouldn't flaunt it as much either, but most topics I'm interested in would include him anyway.

Nothing scary about my Mutual of Omaha! I tend to think of him as "The Wild Kingdom" anyway!:D

ok i mention lisa a lot ... because shes my best pal ... if i wasnt in love with her i'd probably still mention her

if i go on the london eye its going to be with her ... hense she gets mentioned

if its a thread about cars when we go out we drive in her car (and i dont drive) so shes going to get mentioned

i live with her and she reads posts on literotica and is often around me when im making posts ... this is a shared literotica account ... so yes she gets mentioned

what i dont do is mention all sappy stuff or how much i love her or stuff like that unless the thread is about love ... is this thread still directed at me because i mention her in coversation but i dont mention her in sappy terms ?

also marxist i dont have low self confidence at all and i dont make a scary mate so PFSTTTTTTTTTTT ... i think you've learned with my dealings with you that i dont have low confidence :) ... and its untrue you telling me you havent seen lisa post on here ... she posted a post to you which said "bite me" and i know shes posted on here a couple of times sense you've been registered

heh! What? Am I chopped Liver over here? I and my SO are probably the worst offenders of the bunch. I have always been more vocal and mobile then most here. Even when single I just romped about on the boards. Now i have a mate and I am supposed to stop? I dont think so. I must admit we have toned down a bit lately.

I think there are more SO's and I Like the term. Better then that persons partner, uh bf oops gf uh other, whatever if you dont know them that well. The bb's have spurred more online relationships all of a sudden and I think it is pretty good.

There are a lot of topics I dont like or topics I do that get Hi Jacked. heh, I gotta live with it, so do you.

So you want to talk about your car/truck etc. Fine with me, start a vehicle thread and I will join you on the thread telling about my Jeep. Fantastic vehicle. Guess what, there will be people who say a thread on cars/truck dont belong on this site.

LOL!

Oooooooh...

reminds me of my SO--'specially the etc etc etc part.

He's reeeeeeally good at etc-ing...

*winking at jass*

you axed fer it, honey!

My opinion is that the people complaining about hearing people talk about their special relationships are jealous. Maybe not all of you are looking for a relationship such as theirs, but is it so hard for you to be happy for them and maybe learn something from them?

If it's a problem to read them..............don't!!! Just move along....

I really don't think that people complain because they're jealous. I'm very happy being single, and it irks me at times when I'm reading a thread about something, and then two posters who are in a relationship start getting all sappy, posting shit back back and forth. Many people probably don't care to see it publicized so often.
I'm happy for people who have fallen in love through this board, but i really don't need to see blaring evidence of it on several different threads every day. If I wanted that, I'd go to chat or talk to those people in IMs.

It used to irk me, but then I remembered the fact that I do a lot of the same shit, and so do most other people, when they're still in that incredibly deep, wanting, needing, romantic stage of love. Some people just never come out of that stage, which is great for us :)
