As others have said, dialogue helps reveal character and emotion. e.g. I've used dialogue to demonstrate a character is "lower class" and the other is not just from the way they speak and their word choices. Dialogue is also handy to slow the pace, when that's needed.Hey all!
As the title states, I was wondering is dialogue a requirement for you to enjoy erotica or could you enjoy a story/get off to the MC's recollection of events alone?
I put waaay too much dialogue in my stories and am trying to cut back.
A while ago a reader challenged me to write something where a couple never talk to each other before getting it on, so I wrote Speechless, where both lose their voices. That wasn't at all what the reader meant, but it was fun to write anyway.
But even there the story has dialogue... internal, of course, but also in the sense they use gestures to communicate and try to figure out what the other means.
