I think it's just too much repetition. I like people saying different things. Signatures means often people are saying the same thing every time and I get antagonized/bored with even the wisest quotation.

I don't mind avatars, I have them on. My mind isn't drawn to them as much as to text. I just can't...not read text..and in an OCD way even scanning one becomes a grudging chore. Upon seeing the same thing hundreds of times, grudging turns to hostility.

I can't not read words. If there's a movie with subtitles, I'm only reading the subtitles. I'll be lucky if I see anything other than noticing the actors aren't saying the same things as the words, and therefore the actors are wrong.
