Well, yes, if that's what would save their people the most grief and pain, then they should say just that. The problem is that the people in power there are concerned about themselves instead of the people they are supposed to be serving, the Iraqi citizens. And we're not asking for the country, we want hose posing a threat to the rest of the world out of office, and we want any nukes they might have disarmed.
And, by the way, threatening us probbly wasn't the best of moves...what they really need to do is piss off the country that's probably about to kick its ass.

American sheep? Roughly 40% of this country is opposed to war without more proof of Suddam Insane's violations of UN resolutions. I would say out of the remaining 60%, 99% don't want war either, but feel 12 years of violating UN resolutions is enough and that Suddam is a serious threat to the saftey of the world, not just the us.

So what's the big deal, really?

Hussein has explicitly said that he will, given any opportunity, aid terrorist strikes against the US any way he is able, including giving them WMDs.

This is common knowledge if you can read.

So, we don't do anything about him and we live with thie threat (at best) or he carries out his threat repeatedly (at worst). Or, we move against him and there are no attacks (at best) or there are some (at worst). In either case, the worst case scenario is the same. By acting, we at least can expect a resonable time scale for these attacks to come and can plan for them accordingly.

Any country would do it if surounded by a hostile force that severrely outnumbered and outgunned them.

It would be expected that you would fight back with every weapon you could possibly find.

This is an extreme weapon for sure, but it is still a weapon at your disposal.

Remember all the war films of the young pilot being shot down, knowing he could not get out of his aircraft and crashing it into the emeny, then followed by John Wayne flying off shaking his head.

Of course the people of the country would do it if they believed the propaganda put forward by their country's media...why shouldn't they believe it?
