Protests continue and intensify, as worker unions threaten to strike, including oil workers.

Iran International reported earlier that activists have intensified calls for labor and commercial strikes to put further pressure on the government. In the wake of these calls, oil industry workers issued statements threatening a general strike. A statement by oil contract workers and another by regular employees on Wednesday threatened that if the government does not stop its use of force and release all prisoners, they would start strikes.

Iran's foreign minister chimes in
I'm assuring them that there is not a big deal going on in Iran," he said of his message to his Western counterparts. "There is not going to be regime change in Iran. Don't play to the emotions of the Iranian people.

Protestors seem to disagree
The protests that have gripped the country after Amini’s death are the stuff of nightmares for the geriatric clerics and military thugs that have run Iran since 1979. Unlike in previous protests where the people chanted for economic relief or fair elections, the message from the streets has been clear: “Death to the dictator.”

No regime change? Are they going to do Weekend at Tehran ft. the corpse of the Ayatollah?

The international response has been cautious. The UN calls for independent investigation into the death of Amini
“We are increasingly concerned about reports of rising fatalities, including women and children, related to the protests,” U.N. spokesman Stéphane Dujarric in a statement. “We underline the need for prompt, impartial and effective investigation into Ms. Mahsa Amini’s death by an independent competent authority.”

Many more have condemned the Kurdish strike
The U.S. Department of State called the Iranian attacks an “unjustified violation of Iraqi sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

“We are also aware of reports of civilian casualties and deplore any loss of life caused by today’s attacks,” said spokesperson Ned Price in a statement. “Moreover, we further condemn comments from the government of Iran threatening additional attacks against Iraq.”
