Good point. There’s a long friendship between the Jews and the Persians and a shared animosity toward the Arabs who invaded our ancestral lands.

Before 1948 there was a large Jewish community in Iran. Many Israelis are descended from Persian Jews who left (or were forced out) after Israel was founded. Emigration increased after the fundamentalists came to power in 1979.
