I've been a literotica fan for many years. I prefer a good read to a good flick any day. For the most part I enjoy what I consume here but one thing I've noticed is the stereotypical way IR erotica is written and since they're submitted by various unprofessional writers I can only surmise that it is the sad state of affairs in society-at-large that is responsible for the morass. In particular, when IR erotica is written involving a black man and non-black woman it tends to be formulaic in that some oversized dick in both senses of the word gets off on misogynistic madness. Mistreating women, calling them all manner of vile names and doing all manner of BDSM inspired lunacy. Just raw animal sex.. Which is fine if that is what floats your my motto is "let your freak flag fly", sadly though most of the stories I have read here follow that. Now let's juxtapose this with IR erotica involving black women and non black men. They tend to be formulaic but their formula is most often a formula of true love, and formerly unknown decent treatment. The diamond in the rough so to speak. It so sad that as poorly as I write I may have to try my hand at this in order to stem the tide....

A lot of really bad writers try for very low hanging fruit. As for me I write Asian/White stories. I have black friends but I really don't know how to capture them on the printed page. Also most of the black guys I know tend to date black women. Not that they don't find white women attractive. Sometimes they tell me things that are beyond my experience as a white guy. One friend told me he was dating a very nice white girl until he found out that she lived in the town in Georgia where the Klan was founded! I lived in Stone Mountain too. The way to write black or any other ethnic characters is simple but not simplistic. Base it on geography not ethnicity. That is the true difference, birds in a flock tend to be similar. So if they're southern they're similarly southern. If they're Minnesotans they're similarly Minnesotans. Race is a man made concept. Geography is the true difference. I say similarly not simplisticly.

My two cents on the OP:

If I were to write anything IR, most likely would be white guy, not white woman. One must follow their own preferences writing (at least I do) or it becomes bad.

My writing on it would either make it the tender fall in love kind of thing you were describing or a BDSM related thing, which if done right can still be the tender fall in love kind of thing.

Honestly, I had not noticed the dispersion. Mainly because I generally stay out of the IR story lists, secondly, because when I do take a vacation over there, I read the white guy/ not white girl stories.

You're right, except finding a decently written BDSM story these days is almost as hard as finding a good IR story.

A certain faction here has turned several categories into lowest common denominator porn. As in every guy has a huge cock, every woman is submissive and the general air is "get on your knees before I rape you bitch"

But this is a porn site and that should be expected. Except when I came here six years ago those stories were the exception, not the norm and it was better before me from what I've heard. Too bad they're too oblivious to realize the trolls are beginning to not only drive people off, but shape the content that is acceptable to them. If you don't conform to their bullshit you're flamed and many authors and readers have become tired of it.

I separate adult fiction onto a gradient between Porn and Erotica. The more ridiculous a story, the closer to Porn I put it. The more realistic the closer to Erotica it goes.

What I read in this thread are people who want realistic IR but are finding too much ridiculous. I can't comment on the history of Literotica, but I know there has always been a mix of both. In general, I find the site's search features greatly lacking, but I don't know of a place that takes the effort to identify how ridiculous each story is.

For me, when I read ridiculous IR, I know it's a crock. It doesn't change my basic respect for all people. For me IR porn is fantasy, just as stupid as enormous tits and cocks, or bimbos and cuckolds.

The problem with that is, like recorded erotic material, people do have a fetish for races. I know people who like X race for porn, and the same occurs here. I do agree it is saturated with stereotypes and a lot of trash, but sometimes I do want to particularly read about an interracial couple, with that being the premier tag. Problem is the stories that are good in that category are often covered in the many crap ones.

In direct response to the OP, honestly I agree. I find it petty almost. As if to force some sort of social restitution by having only a single, vastly over used, concept. Unfortunately, the concept has been so over used it's nearly set in stone. It's almost as if there cannot be an average, or smaller, endowed black man. IR porn is of course no less potentially problematic a kink than noncon or incest or anything else. Most of it runs on bestializing black-white stereotypes that issue from exactly the same place that leads cops to think they have the right to shoot black kids like game animals. In a perfect world sex is just sex no matter the race of who's involved, if there's a frisson of "interracial" taboo and thrill involved it's because racism is involved. Most IR fiction is written by white guys who know no black or Asian, or brown people and it shows. Basically, people are people but they come from different cultures. It really is that simple. I am just saying, a lot of the stories on this site are about things, that you shouldn't do in real life. Racism is not acceptable, non-consent is not okay, incest or a lot of teacher\pupil stuff is for a good reason not acceptable.

But this are just erotic sex stories. Kinks are what kinks are ... fun for wanking and for every sane person that's where it stops.
