Hey all:
was wondering if anyone know how to utilize the ability to track your work outs on the ipod mini? i saw it advertised on Amazon that you can do that, but i cant seem to figure it out...
show me how:)

I really don't think that there is a practical way to do so... I think everything is done through your Mac (persuming your not a windows user). As in, through iCal or whatever. I just don't see any logical way to type using an iPod which is why I believe this.

Well, shit. Sorry for not helping at all... blah.

well, i know it CAN be done even if you have to sync because it's advertised...:(

hmmm...I am not sure this really answers your question directly but I can tell you how I have been using my iPod for workouts:

I started walking and created playlists for my walks. I have a few that match the type of walking I want to do that evening. For example, I have one that is a total of 45 minutes. It begins the minute I leave my driveway (I walk outdoors) and ends when I return so I know I have had a good 45 minutes of walking time in.

My playlists are designed around the type of workout, music starting slow during warm-up, hitting a peak with a heavier beat and then slower tempo again for cool down. I know, for example, it helps to hear Fleetwood Mac's "Second Hand News" to get up the incline a mile up the road :D

This takes knowing your workout time and your music. Took me about two weeks to perfect it but it was worth it. I was totally sedentary before my iPod. It really changed the way I live.

OMG. I sound like such a dork. Oh well...I lurv my iPod.

Sounds great! however, if you take a peek at amazon.com's ipod mini info, it has "workouts" on the screen in one of the pictures. Therefore, you must be able to sync it somehow to have your workout schedule (weight lifting routine, ect) on your mini....
ggrrrr

From Apples' site:

"iPod’s Notes Reader lets you take text-based information such as news downloaded off the web, stock tips, your workout regimen, restaurant reviews, directions, your shopping list with you on your travels. Just transfer it via FireWire or USB 2.0 to iPod from your computer (Mac or PC)."

I have Windows iPod.

You can use windows explorer to browse to your iPod, then you can move over notepad txt files into the right directory. Then you can access them on the iPod from the main menu -> Extras -> Notes
