My SO recently got a video iPod as a gift. She's having alot of fun with it, but would like to add a movie or two from our dvd library. Does anyone know how you could convert a dvd movie to an iPod compatible format?

If anyone knows the answer, let me know PLEASE as well. I have come to the conclusion that ipod sucks big hairy nasty ass, and there is NO WAY to actually put VIDEO on a VIDEO IPOD!!!!!!!! Never mind the fact that I paid an arm and a leg for the damned thing, it is simply the biggest pain in the ass software-wise that I think I have EVER seen.

I hear ya! I have yet to get video onto my Ipod. Very frustrating.

I'm a bit confused by this as well.

I do know that vids have to be converted into Apple's .mov format before they can be loaded into an iPod. I've done this with conversion software. But afterwards, its still not a straightforward process to arrange the video files on the iPod for viewing. The iTunes software allows the user to easily create music playlists but I've had trouble creating video playlists.

I'm still trying to get it just right. I'll post when I have an answer.
