So I've been a long time Lit Reader and found my way to the forums. So I'm introducing myself here. Sometimes duty has me gone for months at a time, so daily posting might be a rare thing.

I want to know is whats the purpose of the self titled threads? Is it one of those "get to know you" type things?

Also how about the "group" type threads like the Chick mob type? What purpose does that thread have?

Now my questions may create waves haha and that's not the intent - I just want to know, and figured I would ask in a new thread.

I see The Playground as a big house with lots of rooms. Every room has a party going on in it-some are raucous and noisy, some quieter and more contemplative.

It's like going to any party for me, it depends on my mood as to whether I want to go in or not. Then mix in the people in there, are they familiar to me? Unknown but intriguing? Are they playing a game I want to play? or sit back and watch. Or avoid altogether because we clearly have no common ground on which to build a rapport...

Entering them is like going into any party in real life-you can bound into a room full of friends with abandon, or approach with more care. There are rules and an etiquette, just as in real life. Treat people with respect just as you would in real life, I hope...it's no different.

As a well loved Litster once had in her sig...there are real people behind the screen names...why would you care to hurt them in your initial approach especially if you're looking to get to know some of them on a more "intimate" level-remember, people can search your posts and if you've been an arse elsewhere, it's right there for all to see
