Ok, first of all, yes I am a new to Lit author, what I was wanting input on was, well, how far out is interesting?
I've written sci-fi based erotica, both graphic, and not so much, normal erotica, again both, or also fantasy.

Are any and all suitable? Keep the details to the imagination? Be descriptive with everything?

Just tossing this out for feedback, will submit a story before long anyway, but future reference is always nice.

Thanks for givin it a look.

Hello there, Jarlsaxe. It's nice to meet you. Just a quick note - you might find that you get more response to this on the Author's Hangout forum. That's usually where people talk about general writing issues (and everything else under the sun). The Story Discussion Circle is for in-depth discussions of specific stories, and works on a give-before-you-get system (see the top sticky).

That said, I'm happy to answer your question. :) All of the options you've described have a place on Lit. It's a great place to experiment with what and how you like to write. There are whole categories for science fiction / fantasy and nonhuman (not animal but magical or similar) stories as well as erotic horror, so you've got lots of leeway. There's even a "non-erotic" category for those so inclined. Some categories do tend to get read more than others, so you might care to consider that when writing. "Letters and Transcripts," for example, is quite thinly read, whereas "Incest" for some reason really packs them in. There are some differences in personality of readers as well. "Loving Wives" is somewhat infamous for the internecine warfare over what the category title means; whether you read it as implying fidelity or infidelity, you will receive unpleasant comments from the opposite camp. On the other hand, I've personally found the "Non-human" category readers especially patient and open to character development, symbol, and tediously literary non-immediate-wank concerns (and bless you all for it).

The same I think goes for the question of how graphic or detailed to be. There are proponents of both schools, and - happily - a large middle ground who just want a good story well told, and who recognize more than one way to achieve that goal. I've presented perhaps more than my share of bizarre forms and premises - an erotic diary of a 18th century poet, a science fiction story with a humanoid cat love interest, a horse who falls in love with her rider - and the denizens of Literotica have been astonishingly patient and kind with these strange freaks of fancy. I am sure that you will find a place!
