saw this in the paper today , wondering if anyone else
has any info?

millions of british internet usersface a huge slowdown
in their service next week.
the meltdown could come as soon as monday when the
owners of Europes biggest data network are
threatening to shut down the system.
Dutch firm KPN Qwest handles almost half of Europes internet traffic. But it went bankrupt last week, now administrators
say the network will be closed unless creditorspay all their debts by monday. last night one insider said "this could be the internets world own sept 11" .
one engineeer said "people are underestimating how big
an impact this will have, about 40-50% of European
internet traffic will go into a black hole"
Has anyone heard anything about this , will it happen ?

Most of the losses are going to be users... It was supposedly the best UK ISP. So, there'll be a user drop-off until they scurry to find a replacement and get set up. There'll be a bunch of dead email addresses which will impact spam... requiring a massing email requisition drive (Eep)

As for sites... Some will go down and never come back, however nothing really big.

When i read Qwest in the name that was all i needed to hear! They suck big time. Where ever the bastards are and what ever they are doing.
