When I right-click on an open IE window, the normal menu comes up. The problem is that there's an extra option that redirects me to a porn site. How do I get rid of it?

Ouch, evil spyware/ads. I'd say get spybot or adaware and see if they can get rid of it. You may have to edit it out in the registry somewhere.

Spybot Search & Destroy is better bout finding registry entries that add things to menus.

RegClean is another program for finding stuff and removing it in the registry, although it also requires a bit more knowledge of what you're doing.

Some trojan or worm has added that extra option to your sytem registry, so you'll need something to find and remove it from there.

I downloaded and ran S&D, but it's still there. How do I edit the system registry?

Well, you might try regclean (I have no experience with it, I just use regedit which is part of windows; click start, run, type regedit, ok). However, I wouldn't just go messing about the registry as you can do MAJOR damage to windows if you delete something by accident. You might try some forums/sites that deal with this stuff to search for help. You need to find the specific name of the program etc. to find out where it resides in the registry keys. I'd also run a full system antivirus scan while you're at it. IIRC, www.grc.com has a newsserver and forums where people can ask the gurus about this stuff.

The Regedit program that comes with windows is sufficient for most purposes, but a program like Regclean adds some insight into what each entry actually does.

Click Start -> Run, type Regedit<enter> to get into the registry editor.

Use the find function to find the text that is in your right click menu -- if it's not found then th problem isn't in the registry and you'll have to search for one of the other ways to add things to windows various menus.

If it is found, it should give a clue as to what other registry keys might be involved, but deleting the string from anyregistry key that contains it should remove it from the menu.
