International Attitudes about Sex, and sexuality.

I’m curious since we have so many international members on Lit, if any of you think there are differing attitudes in your countries about sex and sexuality from what we experience here in the USA. I have traveled a great amount, and the things I have seen from Africa to Amsterdam are quite a continuum. Please share if there is anything unique you have experienced in your country that you think is part of that place and culture. Also, if any of you have traveled, or even just read interesting things, please share them.

traveling...and sex....

In the many different countries I have worked in and travelled to... I must say...YES...I saw a huge differences in attitude toward sex and the enjoyment of that pure act of lust and love...

I found that the openness was easier for them in Europe vs. the Americans who were visiting.

In China...public display of one's sexuality is a very NO NO...

even in private the woman's attitude was very reserved, yet as "unspoken" an act as sex is in China....someone's fucking someone...1.3 billion people speak volumes of that statement...

We as Americans are sexual people, yet moral majority groups try to repress this attitude ....as community strandards....only because they have the media attention and are speaking louder than the whole....yet, the countless number of people who take advantage of the poor, the woman in distress, the church member who looks up to her spiritual leader only to be used, the husband who doesn't realize the harm he causes to his children with unwanted sexual intent...

I say fuck them all and open your eyes...

Sex is as natural an act as say the sun shining on our days, as natural as the birds flight to the south during winter...

Stop the insanity of "pretending" that we as Americans don't enjoy our sex and desire for it not be a crime...and hide the fact that we are ALL sexual beings....show respect toward your partner....they are more then just meat...they are human beings with a desire to be open and free....

and that is all I have to say about....

Great post freashrope, thanks. I have never been to China, though I did notice the same type of attitude in Japan, though maybe not as severe. It seems the Japanese love of american pop culture is starting to have a view on there views on sex as well.

I love the idea of us coming to terms with sex as natural, and being open about it, but I doubt it will ever happen. There is too much biology and instinct barried in the act for us ever to let go and view it strictly rationally, and frankly would we ever want to?

Germany is a fun place, I remember the first time while driving down the road that I saw a billboard with a very nice set of boobs on it...kinda took me by suprise at first. Germans are much more open than Americans (in general). I'd move back to Germany in a heart beat!!!
