I was directed by a friend of mine who knows that I like to write a variety of differing genres of stories to look at Vampires: The Masquerade... he just wanted to know what I thought of it. Now, not very big on those boardgame roleplaying type games (like Warhammer and such, by GamesWorkshop) but, as an author, I always found that these alternate universes created for these hobby enthusiasts were VERY interesting indeed...
The Masquerade is pretty much a battle between two vampiric ideals... The Camarilla, who wish to rule humanity in relative obsqurity, and the Sabbatt, who wish to dominate humankind overtly, and live in a world of bloodlust and evil. There are neutrals in the conflict, as well (clans of vampires whose alliances change as their own internal policies change) and, to make things even more intriguing, a group of vampire Ancients whose own agenda seems to bring about the distruction of their 'chrildren' and the bringing about of the final apocalypse.
The original vampire was Caine, who, by killing his brother Abel, was cursed forever by God and was forced to live forever as the first of the Undead....
I could go on for ages about how cool a concept this all is for a story... but I won't. Suffice to say, what I'm thinking of doing is blending this concept with a number of other Vampire concepts I've found interesting over the years, to come up with something that I THINK and HOPE will be wholely original (I know, coming up with a Vampire idea that hasn't been done to death is quite hard!
).
I want to have a couple of main characters:
1. An Ancient, someone from antiquity that has been made into a vampire millennia ago and has been wandering the earth, sowing seeds of evil and garnering followers down through the aeons.
2. A 'hero' vampire, some form of redeemer-type working for a super-secret branch of the US government that has been combating the supernatural for over one hundred years.
3. A femme-fatale schemer vampire, who has been plotting and scheming to get control of a number of key feifdoms across the world so that much of the vampires' territories will be hers.
There will be human characters, as well, that I am yet to properly develop. Basically, this will hopefully turn into a tale filled with a lot of sex and action, woven together into a zippy piece of erotica that I hope will appeal.
My first question is this... does it sound good? I wouldnt really take anything from the Masquerade, but rather change things to suit my own view of what they should have originally done. Not just action here people but a lot of sensuous lovin' too
.
I was thinking that it was going to be a pretty big series, something that I could get out to readers once a week or two-weeks. So my second question is this... should I try to put my first chapter into Novels/Novella, and put a warning or sumthing about the violence and horror themes contained within, or just start posting in the Erotic Horror category?
Thanks for hearing out my ideas... comments and suggestions appreciated!
