MistressJett said:I'm shy in person. I know I'm far from it around here, but all of the outgoing words that people have chosen for me still made me do a double take.

What do you mean, there's no such button?
Damn.![]()
I just meant that for me. It's not surprising considering how quiet I am on the boards.lilredjammies said:I know. And I guess it's not really surprising that no one clicked "quiet" or "shy" for Jett or myself, given our public personae. I just thought it was intriguing.

Huckleman2000 said:As a professional research analyst, I'm really not sure what to make of this. Our most-responded to 'windows' have only about 16 entries, which is nowhere near a statistically significant sample. Yet, clearly discernable patterns emerge, even though many of the defining characteristics are quite finely defined. What, really, is the difference between 'witty' and 'clever' when one is describing an online acquaintance? Even if we consider each other 'friends', we're basing the distinctions almost exclusively on written communication - there is no verbal tonality or body language to convey the subtle distinction in the adjectives.
I think quantitative analysis really doesn't apply to this, beyond a very loose interpretation. Ideally, maybe responses from those we consider more intimate could receive a greater weight to see how close our self-image is to others' perceptions - but are we really trying to use this to gauge a more generalized view of others' impressions of us? In that sense, perhaps more weight should be given to the ratings of those less acquainted.
But do we all aspire to be an open book?
My suspicion is that we all just want to see what Yui really thinks of us.![]()

The thing that bugs me about this is that there are no negative-ish descriptors -- except, maybe, tense. I think it'd be fun to include words like: anal, inflexible, demanding, surly, etc.![]()
