Remember the old interactive 80s video games like Maniac Mansion?

Got a hankering to recall those fun-filled hours of frustration as you attempt to figure out the clues with a limited GUI or, heaven forbid, typing commands at a DOS prompt?

Well, this thread's for you.

Let the game begin.

PS: This is NOT Maniac Mansion.

Prepare to be disappointed by the lack of Tentacles.

Probably.

I think I remember these games. Would Zork be considered one?

"You flick the light switch as the door closes behind you with a soft click of the latch.
Soft lamplight illumines the small, but comfortably furnished hotel room.
What do you do?"

(type your action to continue the story)

"On the wall to your left is the light switch, a faded poster of the building's emergency evacuation plan, and a stock print showing a reasonably rendered pastel sketch of a boat on a lake. It is hanging slightly skew.

What do you do?"

"The light is already on. The lamplight is soft and warm. The spotlight over the wall print flickers slightly.

What do you do?"

>

"Up close, the print is showing its age. The paper is yellowed and the paint on he frame is starting to peel. You are surprised to see a series of numbers scratched into the frame near the lower left-hand corner.

What do you do?"

>

"1800 dial-a-pizza."

Oops, programming error.

*hastily retypes*

"The numbers are legible - just. They look like they could be a phone number.

What do you do?"

*giggling, picturing Playful in her office attire complete with short skirt, impossibly high heels, stalkings, ruby red lips... holding an adding machine, a pencil tucked behind one ear, eye glasses perched at the end of her nose as she counts*

"One, two, skip a few.... three, four, skip some more..." :D

I think it's hilarious that anyone could picture me like that. Hot idea, but SO far from true, LMAO.

inventory

"You are wearing: office attire complete with short skirt, impossibly high heels, stalkings (sic ;) ), starched white blouse and ruby red lipstick.

In your work satchel: a calculator, a variety of pens and pencils, reading glasses (NOT cracked), an apple, make-up compact and a small square packet with Ansell written on it. Just for 'emergencies'.

What do you do?"

"The room is comfortably furnished, but just starting to show signs of age.
The king size bed dominates the room. A deep chocolate cover is smoothly spread over white linen sheets. The linen looks clean and fresh.
Furnishings are in matching chocolates and dark earth tones: a wardrobe, a writing desk under the window on the opposite wall, a TV shelf with a LCD TV (and the little black box which brings you in-house movies), a 2-seater sofa with a couple of cushions and a small kitchen bar unit with a kettle and a bar fridge.
The window drapes are drawn.
The carpet is a light coffee color which, you feel, is fortunate since the room would otherwise be quite dark and heavy.
On the right hand wall beyond the bed you see an open door, presumably to the ensuite since you can see a glimpse of white tiling.
The room smells clean, but a little musty - the faint hint of cleaning chemicals, some dust. Oh, and carpet shampoo ...

Find door.

"You walk towards the ensuite door, idly trailing your fingers along the bed cover as you pass. Soft. The possibility of a nap crosses your mind.
Suddenly, a noise from the ensuite. It sounds like a low moan.
The door is slightly ajar but you cannot see anything beyond the glimpse of white tile uou noticed earlier.

What do you do?"

>

"Hmm. A mini-map might help ...

You are currently standing between the bed and the TV unit, facing the window.

What do you want to do?"

"A man is lying prone on the floor, naked.
From his head, which is toward you, a thin trickle of blood has been pooling on the tiles.
As you watch, he stirs, and again the low moan.

What do you do?"

>

Help man.

"You kneel down - with difficulty, given your attire ;) - and examine the man's head.
You can't see any obvious wound.
And the 'blood' is a bit of a funny red color.

'Proszę mi pomóc', the man says softly.

What do you do?"
